| | Fabulous Wailers CD (1959)
Diaspora & The Homecoming CD music
$12.59 As any quick perusal of old Top 40 rock & roll station playlists will attest, singles were where the shakin' action was, as rock & roll albums were scarce as hen's teeth back in those pre-Beatle days. But when the record companies decided to issue one, it was usually an artifact of high rockin' value and some major influence. Naysayers to the contrary, this debut album by the Northwest's first great rock & roll combo is just such an artifact. The Wailers dispensed crude, greasy, largely instrumental rock & roll music for those who came to shake it up and shake it down, and it's all on fine, rhythmic, open display here. This album is amazing in its own simplistic, nuthin'-special way, its crudity almost palpable. There's only one vocal aboard, Kent Morrill's "Dirty Robber," later covered and torched by the Sonics. Everything else is built on the riff-sturdy bones of their biggest hit, "Tall Cool One." With two guitars, piano, sax, and drums -- no bass player anywhere on here, another crudeness indicator of the times and locale it was recorded in -- all blasting away like they're working a VFW Hall dance, hoof shakers like "Wailin'," "Shanghaied," "Beat Guitar" (featured in the soundtrack of the misguided Jerry Lee Lewis bioflick Great Balls Of Fire), ...

| | Rex Pruitt Pretty Good Guitar CD (2008)
Diaspora & The Homecoming songs
$15.19 Rex Pruitt was raised on a tobacco farm in Kentucky. Introduced to guitars and banjos as a child, he played in dance bands as a teenager and mastered bluegrass and rockabilly styles, sometimes winning awards, sometimes dropping a pick. Leaving home at seventeen, Rex played Colorado, Nashville, California, and the Mid-west, eventually settling in Natchez, Mississippi where the easygoing life was to his liking. Rex’s uniquely clean, honest music combines bluegrass, blues, rockabilly and country in a way that is perfectly American. Pretty Good Guitar is the first CD from MissyAnna Art and Music. MissyAnna is committed to the music of the Mississippi River, its bluegrass, blues and rockabilly influences from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arkansas, and the Cajun country sounds of South Louisiana. We are proud to preserve these traditions in new, original works, and in new recordings of traditional music.Appreciating those who keep music fresh, this CD is dedicated to music lovers who seek new songs and sounds from outside the mainstream, to the fans, musicians, performers, and creators of music where the notes are clear and the lyrics matter. Thank you for keeping the music real!First credit for this collection goes to Rex ...
| | Ronn Fryer Endangered Animals (Environmental Jenga) CD (2008)
Diaspora & The Homecoming album
$12.65 As a musician and high school teacher, I have a unique opportunity to affect the thinking and conscience of young, formative minds. It\'s tremendously important for people to view animals as neighbors and partners on the planet. To me, the line in Take Only Pictures…”As responsible stewards not eco-bullies”…says it all. Animals aren\'t our possessions; they\'re our responsibility. But lectures aren\'t very effective in developing beliefs - I\'d much rather use a Gibson ES 333. So, after countless hours of researching, writing, and recording, I\'m extremely proud to offer this labor of love. There are ten different songs dedicated to endangered animals here, but I could have included so many more. This is sad ...
