| | Cedar Hill Poverty Row CD Cedar Hill Discography of CDs
"CEDAR HILLS "Poverty Row" is a project of new material and new musicians, yet created in the template of tradition! They mix the new with the old in a way that transforms CEDAR HILL into a new generation. With new faces equating into new exciting sounds. Frank Ray is the bandleader and founding member. He penned the large majority of the songs. One of country music's most awarded artists Vince Gill was so impressed with Frank's writing and the group's sound, he lent his voice to a duet with the band's lead singer & fiddler, Lisa Ray. Lisa's voice is sweet yet sincere. She sings the perfect interpretation of the lyrics purposely penned for "Poverty Row". Lisa shares the vocal leads with new member Rob Collins. Rob sings the Red Allen bluegrass standard, "Love Gone Cold", along with his solid bass duties. He is from Kansas City, Missouri, and a long time friend of all the members of CEDAR HILL. Another new face, and fellow Missourian is Joey Wieneman. Joey adds his own incredible guitar style to "Poverty Row", with great taste and tone. He also shares in the harmonies with Frank & Rob. Crisp banjo styles from Oklahoma native, Kenny Cantrell and the tasteful haunting tones of Missouri's resophonic guitar star, Ferrell Stowe, have been the group's staple sound since inception. Other titles were contributed by Dixie & Tom T. Hall, and include the title song "Poverty Row". Miss Dixie & Tom T. have won multiple song writing awards, for their unique approach to lyrics and melodies. This project is no exception of their uniqueness, and their contributions again exceptional. They continue with award winning recipes for great songs. Miss Dixie has als been known to cook some of her homegrown recipes, during the recording sessions, too. This project is rpoof you can turn poverty into perfection!" -----Rhonda Vincent Cedar Hill Poverty Row Songs | 1. | I Remember the Blues |

Poverty Row album
$19.10 John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers: John Mayall (vocals, piano, organ, harmonica); Eric Clapton (vocals, guitar); John McVie (bass); Hughie Flint (drums).
Includes original release liner notes by Neil Slaven & reissue liner notes by Paul Trynka.
1966's BLUESBREAKERS WITH ERIC CLAPTON is full of portent, as some of its participants would become superstars after its release. Future Cream guitarist Eric Clapton was highly rated enough in the UK blues-rock scene to score second billing, but it wasn't until this recording that he'd had the opportunity to truly stretch out in the studio and show off his awesome soloing skills. Clapton's earlier ...

Poverty Row CD music
$10.95 Jamey Johnson is a successful songwriter on Nashville's Music Row, who has authored hits by George Strait and Trace Adkins. THAT LONESOME SONG, Johnson's debut album as a performer, is a happy throwback to the outlaw country of the 1970s, with ...
| | Lyle Lovett Natural Forces CD (2009)
Poverty Row music CDs
$12.39 Retreating to generally quieter territory after the somewhat splashy IT'S NOT BIG IT'S LARGE, Lyle Lovett also backs away from original tunes on NATURAL FORCES, choosing to devote the bulk of the 11-track album to other writers. Covers are common for Lovett, but not since 1998's STEP INSIDE THIS HOUSE has he spent so much time singing other's songs, and he revisits some of the same composers ...
| | Alan Jackson Let It Be Christmas CD (2002)
Poverty Row songs
$9.99 Unlike HONKY TONK CHRISTMAS, Alan Jackson's fine 1993 holiday album, LET IT BE CHRISTMAS sticks exclusively to the chestnuts. Though Jackson has built a career as one of country music's premier good 'ol boy neo-honky tonkers, here he employs heavily orchestrated arrangements more characteristic of Sinatra than Skynyrd. The setting reveals him to be a highly adaptable and technically superior vocalist, and the music is gorgeous. Though longtime fans shouldn't expect Jackson's usual high-energy twang fest, listeners looking for soothing background music with a country flair will find LET IT BE CHRISTMAS perfect ...

| | Reba Mcentire Keep On Loving You CD (2009) Enhanced CD
Poverty Row CD music
$15.29 KEEP ON LOVING YOU is contemporary country legend Reba McEntire's debut recording on the semi-independent Valory Music Company label's Starstruck imprint. Despite its release on an indie, the production and approach are anything but.. The cream of country music's current chart crop wrote its 13 songs, and it's a radio-friendly collection showcasing McEntire's adaptability. The title track, a midtempo ballad saturated in compressed guitars, Hammond B-3, and a chorus of fiddles, reveals that McEntire is a belter who can hang with the best of them. The set opener (and its first single), "Strange," with its acoustic guitars, mandolin, and fiddle intros, is like something from the backyard until about 20 seconds in, when a wall of guitars à la John Rich arrives and Reba's vocal spits out lyrics about a wrecked love affair. "I Want a Cowboy" and "Pink Guitar" sound more like McEntire is being backed by the Charlie Daniels Band circa 1979 than her own touring unit. "She's Turning 50 Today" is a trademark McEntire-delivered ballad about a woman who has been abandoned by her husband and decides to leave the wreckage of her life behind. It's the kind of bittersweet power ballad that the singer is famous for, and is delivered with ...
| | Walkin' The Blues: The Very Best Of Champion Jack Dupree CD (2003)
Poverty Row music CDs
$13.29 As a reissue and compilation label, Collectables gets it right most of the time. With this overview of New Orleans piano boss Champion Jack Dupree's early- to mid-'50s sides, they get it right all the way down the line. This set commences with Dupree's period with Brownie McGhee (two tracks of a four-track session credited to Big Tom Collins entitled "Heart Breaking Woman" and "Watching My Stuff"). He had recorded with other labels before King, but it is on these sides that he developed his reputation. The majority of this material was recorded in either New York or Cincinnati from 1953 to 1955. Despite his being in either of these locales, Dupree's New Orleans piano blues style is everywhere evident. Check out "Ain't No Meat on de Bone," with its powerful shuffle and second-line rhythm stride. The deep left-hand rhythmic attack in Dupree's style made his music infectious and gave it a presence and urgency that was all delight. Even on the slower-tempoed tunes, such as the talking blues "Walkin' Upside Your Head," the Crescent City's moaning, honking (Willis Jackson plays tenor saxophone on a number of cuts here), and strolling blues tradition is everywhere evident. The other remarkable thing about this set is that Dupree wrote or co-wrote 17 of the 28 cuts featured. Dupree's talented wife Lucille wrote another ten cuts especially for him. To be sure, this is a testament to a particular kind of technical and emotional blues genius that is seldom recognized as one of the great ...
