| | U2 No Line On The Horizon CD (2009)
1967 songs
$10.49 There's no shortage of legendary producers in line to work with music world titans U2; when work with Rick Rubin broke off, Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois stepped in. The resulting NO LINE ON THE HORIZON, 2009's offering from the Irish rockers, continues in the grand U2 tradition, as soaring pop anthems like opening single "Get on Your Boots" pair with experimental melanges like "Tripoli," on a striking album featuring touches of all the albums come before, yet hinting at new worlds for Bono to conquer.
After spending the 1990s experimenting with electronic music and returning to arena-ready rock during the first few years of the 21st century, U2 stakes out territory somewhere between those two points on 2009's NO LINE ON THE HORIZON. Enlisting its go-to production trio of Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, and Steve Lillywhite, the Irish quartet seems intent on crafting a quirkier companion piece to HOW TO DISMANTLE ...

1967 CD music
$6.09 This 1998 reissue contains 5 bonus tracks (including the previously

John Denver's music always had a warm, home-spun quality to it, so it isn't surprising that his 1975 holiday effort, Rocky Mountain Christmas, is a wonderfully low-key and friendly Christmas album. Divided between classic carols and new numbers, such as the fine "Aspenglow" and "Christmas for Cowboys," the album is an appealing, pretty record, perfect for late nights by the fireside. The 1998 CD reissue ...
| | Bersuit Testosterona CD (2005)
1967 music CDs
$12.05 Bersuit are the hottest band of 2005 in Argentina. In 2004, they launched their career with the album "La Argentinidad al Palo" (six times platinum in Argentina alone!) and released their first DVD, "De La Cabeza Con Bersuit Vergarabat" (platinum in Argentina). They received the most awards at Premios Gardel (Argentina's equivalent to the Latin Grammys) for Best Rock Artist and Best Album, receiving the Gardel de Oro (Gold Award). The group are now road veterans, having performed over 100 shows to fanatic acclaim in Mexico, the USA and Spain. These 13 tracks show their musical growth and maturity as musicians while their music spans the range of rock, ska/reggae, cuarteto, ballads and hip-hop. Producer Gustavo Santaolalla (Juanes, Cafe Tacuba) has helped focus and fine tune their energetic sound with his years of experience. The first single is "Madre Hay Una Sola".
Argentina has been a major-league rock en español player thanks to an impressive list of bands that has ranged from los Fabulosos Cadillacs to Babasónicos -- and another band that should be included on that list is Bersuit, who take their share of chances on the ambitious Testosterona. In terms of influences, this 2005 release is all over the place; Testosterona finds the Argentine rockers incorporating everything from reggae, ska, hip-hop, and British punk to South America folk, Dominican merengue, and West African pop. Testosterona is definitely experimental, although not in an abstract or angular way -- and Bersuit's melodies are highly infectious whether they are being moody on "Sencillamente" and "Inundacion" or relentlessly exuberant on "Vamo en la Salud," "La Flor de Mis Heridas," and "O Vas a Misa." A recurring theme on this album is freedom -- personal freedom, political freedom, freedom from oppressive social conditions. And on "El la Ribera," Bersuit describes the oppressive poverty and desperate conditions that trouble an indigenous region of Argentina. The South American country's problems are also examined on "Me Duele Festejar"; the English ...
