You can help save a life in the time it takes to sing a song!.. I put that idea out into the Cabaret community in Los Angeles in hopes of creating a CD which will raise much needed funds for the refugees of Darfur; and they responded in a big way! I have been very moved recently by the images and stories coming out of Darfur and wanted to do something to help. So I have just completed this compellation CD, with the assistance of some extremely talented singers and songwriters. Some of the songs are from existing CD's and others have just been recorded in May. $10 from the sale of each CD will be donated to two organizations doing wonderful work in the region - ($5 to each organization). My hope is that this may inspire more raindrops of aid for the refugees. The organizations this will support are: The International Rescue Committee: At work in 25 countries, the IRC delivers lifesaving aid in emergencies, rebuilds shattered lives and strengthens the communities of those uprooted by violent conflict and persecution. For refugees granted entry to the United States, IRC offices across the country provide a range of assistance aimed at helping new arrivals get settled, adjust and acquire the skills to become self-sufficient. And IRC advocates tirelessly on behalf of the displaced, standing up for the world's most vulnerable populations. You can find out more about them at theirc. org. The other is Jewish World Watch - the solar cooker project. JWW works to mobilize synagogues, their schools, their members and community to combat genocide and other egregious violations of human rights around the world through education, advocacy and refugee releif.
