Normal Abnormal album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" from The Mule Variations, "Trampled Rose" from Real Gone, and a haunting version of Leadbelly's "Fannin Street" from Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards, to mention just three of the 17 cuts here. But he goes back to his Island ...

$12.69 When you see Sarah Benck and The Robbers for the first time, the immediate question in your mind will be, “How does such a big voice come in such a small package?” When you listen to Sarah’s lyrics, you’ll wonder, “How can someone so young write such introspective and personal songs?" Still in her early 20’s, Sarah has already become a mainstay of the Omaha music scene. She has been performing solo acoustic and with local rock and blues acts since age 16, and in January of 2007 she was named “Best Singer/Songwriter” at the First Annual Omaha Entertainment Awards. Sarah was asked by Omaha indie-rock band Cursive to record vocals for a song on their 2006 release “Happy Hollow”, and she can beheard on the track “Retreat”. The Robbers help Sarah write, arrange, and evolve the music with an “anything goes” attitude, yet always serving the song. On guitar is Jason Ferguson. He started playing at age seven and was raised on the classics from B.B. King to Jimi Hendrix to Miles Davis. A graduate of the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, he brings a wealth of stage and studio experience to the table. James Carrig plays bass guitar with a tight, solid, and brilliantly understated style that drives the music, just like James Jamerson taught him. James has played with Sarah the longest and his connection with her music is undeniable. He is truly the foundation of the group. Drummer Scott "Zip" Zimmerman has a diverse musical background which includes teaching music in public schools and private lessons. He's played drums, percussion, and sang with several rock, funk and jazz groups. Zip’s funk-rock swagger provides the perfect feel to The Robbers music.Since joining forces, Sarah Benck and The Robbers have become sought-after regional favorites, gigging often and sharing the stage with luminaries Buddy Guy, Sue Foley, Dawn Tyler, Renee Austin, Eric Sardinas, Hadden Sayers, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Rich Robinson, Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials, Bernard Alison, Savoy Brown, Kory and the FireFlies, Lee Rocker, Orenda Fink, Neva Dinova, REO Speed Wagon, Indigenous, Gillian Welch, Conor Oberst, Blues Traveler, and Bon Jovi. With the release of their second CD, Neighbor’s Garden ...

Normal Abnormal music CDs
$16.45 I started writing songs in 1959. The first recordings I made were at Cuca Records in Sauk City, Wisconsin. At that time just about everyone that had a band or wrote songs recorded at Cuca. The last time I was in the studio was in 1970. When my mother passed away on February 2nd, 2007 I wrote a song as kind of a tribute to this great woman called "No Disappointments Up There." It's a bluegrass Gospel song and after I sang it a few times for family and friends they suggested that I record it along with several other songs I had written. Another song called Deer Hunting Season Again was recorded on the CD called Kindly Keep It Country. It's a song I wrote about 20 years back and is a humorous look at Deer Hunting in the State of Wisconsin. I contacted a recording studio that I had read about in the local scandal sheet called RY Productions in Willard, Wisconsin and talked with Richie Yurkovich and told him what I had in mind. He said he could get the musicians to back me if I wanted to make a record of some of the songs I wrote over the last 50 plus years. The musicians he got were exceptional. We went into the studio and Kindly Keep It Country is the result of four months of work in the studio. Chet Atkins told my father over 40 years ago that if you surrounded yourself with quality musicians you couldn't help but make yourself sound good. With this CD I guess I proved that. All of the songs ...
