| | Nicola Costa Electric Roots CD Nicola Costa Discography of CDs
"Electric Roots", the new album by italian guitarist Nicola Costa, is an all original and instrumental guitar record featuring some of the finest musicians in Italy! The ten tracks comprising Electric Roots include a mix ranging from blues to rock to electric jazz. Superb compositions full of depth, power and melody with tons of soulful bluesy feel. Highly recommended to fans of JIMI HENDRIX, JEFF BECK, JOE SATRIANI, MICHAEL LANDAU, SCOTT HENDERSON, ROBBEN FORD. If you heavily dig awesome, deep, bluesy heavy guitar riffage, the "Electric Roots" by Nicola Costa is just what you're looking for."Costa is an extremely gifted guitarist who offers 10 tracks of original and extremely diverse instrumentals on this CD. He is all over the board style and sound wise, which adds much to the charm of this recording......."Electric Roots" is truly a remarkable recording by an artist who has such a bright future ahead of him. I am considering this a "must own" recording for anyone who likes great blues, blues/rock, or jazz guitar work or just plain good music in general".Tom Branson/ Bluesrockers"Nicola Costa is an outstanding, world-class player who stands tall with the best of them. The bluesy-fusion direction/vibe grooves hard and his liquid organic tones are authentic/pure. The heavy Michael Landau inspiration on "Little Boy Blues" shines deep. Costa & his people did a excellent job on the rather superb "Electric Roots" disc". Joe Romagnola / Grooveyard Records"It was really cool to master Electric Roots and I regard Nicola as an awesome player"Joe Gastwirt / Joe Gastwirt MasteringAll songs are written by Nicola, and it starts out with a song which reminds of "Left Turn" by Jeff Beck and is somewhat along the line of "Scatterbrain".On "The bridge" we hear tight funky beats on which Nicola plays the most wonderfull plays guitar solo with Beck as a large example.Right after that we get blues, which can be compared best with the layed back Hendrix and SRV songs, in "Little Boy Blues" with a nice hammond organ passage of Ettore Gentile... Also still a song where a considerable portion of blues is "Blue Day" a song in Scott Henderson style. Virtuoso!"Get On Dreamin" has not stolen its name, a thoughtful number with elements of (yes) Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan mixed. Still worth mentioning is "Burning Night" a number song that seems along the lines of the work of Gov't Mule and where the typical Beck sound is audible again during the solos. The cd ends with a song called "Goodbye B", a jazzy song with great tone and talent. We were extremely surprised by this artist who brings qualitatively high standard music. Nicola Costa, is a name to remember! | | Niall Connolly Future Tense CD (2007) (Import)
Electric Roots album
$21.45 Niall Connolly is Ireland's hardest working and most exciting independent songwriter. In the last year he has relentlessly toured Europe and North America where his combination of sincerity, energy, humour and superb songwriting have helped him defy language barriers, geography and quite often, common sense. He has recently relocated to New York where he has been recognised by no less of a musical authority than U.S. Department of Immigration as âan alien of extraordinary abilityâ. Niall returns to Ireland in October to begin a two-month European tour, which will coincide with the release of his new album, 'The Future Tense'. On this, his third album, Connolly takes us from the late night streets of Cork City to North Africa, the Middle East, New York City and back again. However, it is his mapping of everyday human experience that gives his very individual storytelling its universal appeal. âThe Future Tenseâ, is a collection of thirteen new recordings ranging from indie rock anthems to urban folk songs and is Connollyâs finest album yet. Subject matter includes the usual suspects; love, loss, ...

| | Thomas Nowlin Harrison Mean Dumb & Crazy CD (2008)
Electric Roots album
$13.15 Someone said that people spend most of their time and energy trying to convince others that they arenât mean, dumb or crazy. I just decided to forego that, and admit that I am all three. But, so are you. Welcome to the human race! You decide for yourself: Which track is meanest? Which is dumbest? And, which is craziest? Itâs all up to you! This CD contains some recently found treasures. First was a tape of Dave McEver & I made when we were in high school in the late 1960s. It is the source of #09, #11 & #19. Thanks to Wally Brown for making, preserving and digitizing it for me! Itâs now about 40 years old. There was also a CD of Keyboard solos, which I lost and found again after 5 years or so. Those songs are tracks 03, 05, 12, 14 & 16. Whew! These were done in the early 21st Century.01 One Small Voice Although I wrote and recorded this in the early 70s, that recording is lost. So this is a 2008 solo remake, with some improved lyrics. 02 Nothinâ Under the Sun Music by Dave McEver, Lyrics by Thomas Nowlin Harrison. We wrote & recorded this in the last half of the seventies at Daveâs parentâs house in OKC. Dave on guitar & me on bass. Both did lead & harmony vocals. Rhythm overdubs by me in 2008.03 Wandering Aramean A keyboard instrumental solo, thanks to Raylene for the instrument. Has a âHebrew feelâ.04 Hot Break-Uh Hendrix and R&B brought this one out of me in high school, and I recorded it a bit later in the mid seventies. Rhythm overdubs by me in 2008.05 Crispy & Crunchy A keyboard instrumental solo, and wanders pretty far out.06 Like a Friend I wrote and recorded this song at the same time, and you can actually hear me turning the machine on and off as the song progresses! I meant to do that⊠From the last half of the seventies. Rhythm overdubs by me in 2008.07 Lend Me yer Pipe Just a goofy song about a guy who wants his gal to stop smoking tobacco in a pipe all the time. Does anyone still remember Mammy Yokum from the Liâl Abner comic strip? Câmon, people! LMYP was written in the early 1970s, and recorded late in that decade. No deep meaning⊠or is there? NAH!08 Tomcat Funk 2 TF1 is a bonus track, and both are different mixes of the same tape. TF1 is my original concept, but TF2 is more interesting to me, because it goes back & forth between several lead guitars, one of which is backwards. A very Jimi Hendrix-y song. Rhythm overdubs by me in 2008.09 Ours Alone The first song Dave McEver & I wrote together, I think. We were so serious for such a couple of goofs. Dave plays guitar, and I play Wallyâs Hammond B-3. Iâm no organist, but it sounded okay, once I recalled the chords. Mark Brown sat in on drums.10 Jammy B Badde A guitar/bass solo jam from the late 1970s. Again, itâs in the Hendrix / Stevie Ray Vaughan tradition. Rhythm overdubs by me in 2008.11 Rules of the Road ...
