The "Stringalong" project owes its existence primarily to the life force inspired and nurtured by the Good Vibes Quintet (myself on piano Dave Spears on vibes, Brandon Robinson on guitar, Fritz Kasten on drums, and Ken Plourde, Bob Steele, or Steve Webber on bass. ) Over a period of eight years we developed a challengiong repertoire of bebop tunes, standards, originals and bossa novas that we rehearsed diligently and performed enthusiastically at a variety of San Francisco cafes and restaurants. The quintet also spawned a variety of musical directions with different members in smaller combinations. The Stringalong Trio is one of those several offshoots. I'm Neal Haiduck, a modern jazz clarinetist -- there aren't too many of us around. I've played in many cities and always enjoy coming back to Montreal. In Montreal,the musicians all seem to be part of the same scene and they all seem to switch from free improvisation to more formal chord-based be-bop easily and naturally. There is also a strong Latin influence because of all the Cuban musicians living and working there. You can also hear elements of French chansons and elements of French Impressionism.This record was recorded live in a club in Montreal called UPSTAIRS in the course of two evenings in late August 2006 with a great Montreal-based rhythm section consisting of Alex Bellegarde, bass, Pierre François, piano and Isaiah Ceccarelli, drums. À Montreal les musiciens semblent tous faire partie de la même scène qui passe naturellement de l'improvisation au be-bop, ceci en toute facilite. Il y a aussi une forte influence Latine due aux musiciens cubains vivant et travaillant là . On peut aussi y entendre des elements des chansons et de l'impressionnisme français. Ce disque a ete enregistre en direct dans un club de Montreal appele UPSTAIRS au cours de deux soirees à la fin Août 2006 avec une excellente section rythmique basee à Montreal et composee d'Alex Bellegarde à la contrebasse, Pierre François au piano et Isaiah Ceccarelli à labatterie. With such amazing versatility on his instruments, including the five-string electric violin, Trevor is a master at reaching any audience. He hails from one of Canada's music centres: Guelph, Ontario and is invited to tour across Canada, the United States, South America and Africa.
