Incomparable
Natalie Dessay continues to demonstrate why she is the greatest soprano of our time. Magnificent, emotional, performances of glorious music. Recommended without reservation.

Superb Performance
Nathalie Dessay is certainly one of the greats. The collection as a demonstrates the range of her ability, but the "extra", the DVD, is the best I have ever seen of Lucia's "Mad scene". I have reservations about filming close-ups of Opera singers. The effort of achieving wonderful sounds often leads to either strange facial contortions or a woodenness of expression that undermines the emotion of the scene. But this is one of the rare occasions in which the actress carries it off completely. I saw her performance at the Met 3 nights after this one was recorded. It adds additional dimensions to that performance, as well as being a souvenir of a great night at the Opera. Buy it.
