| | George Winston Autumn CD (1980) Windham Hill 20th Anniversary Edition
Guitar Uncovered CD music
$8.89 Principally recorded on June 19-20, 1980. Includes liner notes by George Winston.
AUTUMN was superstar new age pianist George Winston's first album to sell more than 1,000,000 copies. Listening to these spare, emotionally rich pieces, it's easy to understand why. But it's also clear what sets Winston apart from the hordes of other new age piano soloists: an insistent--occasionally even jarring--gothic sensibility that informs his music.
Like many of his albums, AUTUMN found its inspiration in the seasonal changes wrought upon the Montana landscape that Winston calls home. Though it might ...

| | Chinmaya Dunster Land Of The Buddhas CD (2009)
Guitar Uncovered album
$12.89 The fluid runs of the Indian sarod suggest weightlessness and flight, a fitting sound for an artist who intends to convey the transcendent experiences of meditation. This compilation of British sarod player Chinmaya Dunster's best work displays the successful template he established early on and has employed on over a dozen albums for the New Earth label. Dunster uses Indian classical instrumentation and raga-like structures, softened slightly for Western ears, either by the addition of more traditional ...
| | Grass Roots All Time Greatest Hits CD (1996)
Guitar Uncovered CD music
$7.19 This low-priced disc is far and away the best single-CD compilation ever issued of the Grass Roots' work, 16 chart singles covering every phase of their history, from 1966's "Where Were You When I Needed You" (in its actual hit version) thru "Let's Live for Today" and "Midnight Confessions" to their last hit, 1972's "The Runway." Listening to this 44-minute compilation, one not only encounters a superb array of catchy songs (and even some of the lesser hits, like the number 61-charting "Come On and Say It" and the number 34-charting "Glory Bound," are compelling pieces of soul-based pop/rock) but also virtuoso production and playing. The material has been remastered in state-of-the-art sound, giving one a chance to appreciate the production and engineering as well as the playing, which (regardless of whether it was provided by L.A.'s best session musicians or members of the actual band) is extraordinarily polished and quite powerful -- the piano, drums, and bass on "Sooner or Later" sound like they're in the same room with the listener, and the singing seems even more up-close and personal. The annotation also explains the group's somewhat confusing formation, and their evolution from a folk-rock band to one of the most successful white pop-soul outfits ...

| | Back Door Slam Country I'll Get Mine CD (2008)
Guitar Uncovered music CDs
$16.45 Kat Wahamaa, Jennie Bice, Tony Rees and Joe Samorodin are Back Door Slam. Collectively they’ve received rave reviews for their music all over the globe. Soaring vocals, strong harmonies, flying fiddle, swingin’ guitar, harmonica, bass, mandolin and washboard comprise their unmistakable sound.Their name comes from a line in a 1946 version of the tune I’ll Get Mine Bye and Bye and you’d better believe they are all invested in “getting their own” brand of music out to the hungry ears of the listening public. The music they play? Country & Eastern, roots and branches, down in the dirt stuff including original & old time country, blues, bluegrass and Western Swing; traditional music of the British Isles; and even Finnish folk. They infuse these styles with elements of East Coast kitchen party, punk rock-a-billy and a penchant for swing and rhythm. They play with such exuberance and feeling you\'ll want to get up, dance like Jed, join them with a comb and a piece of wax-paper or cry like a baby!West Coast Music Award nominee Kat Wahamaa is a songwriter/recording artist often compared to kd lang, Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams among others. With \"a voice you can take a bath in\" and her irreverent sense of humour, she has shared the stage with notables Colin Lynden, Connie Caldor and Harry Manx to name a few. She has delighted audiences throughout Western Canada, Japan, and the US. Her experience as a disciple of the \"danse du ventre\" or so called belly dance is evident in her from the hip style rhythm guitar, mandolin and washboard. www.katwahamaa.com Fiddle player Jennie Bice came to Vancouver in search of other musicians driven enough to play the speed she wanted, and bold enough to try some of her ideas. Jennie\'s various recordings and concerts span many genre\'s beyond her Celtic styles, including Cuban Latin, jazz, rockabilly, classical, country, and Cajun amongst others which account for her unique playing style. Jennie fronts the band Prydwen - www.prydwen.com - and also plays with such folks as \"Mad Pudding\" and has toured internationally.Tony Rees was born in Bristol, England and was drawn to the folk music ...
