This blues guitar prodigy released his first album at the tender age of 17, and his heavily distorted, fractured playing style recalls that of legendary Chicago axe-men like Otis Rush and Magic Sam. His fifth outing, WE CAN GET TOGETHER, was released shortly before his untimely death in the spring of 2008.
A primarily self-taught guitarist, Sean Costello won the Beale Street Blues Society's new talent award when he was only 14 years old. By the time he was 18, he had already released his debut album and contributed tasteful lead guitar work on Susan Tedesc

Down Beat (p.79) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "He's blossomed as a songwriter; 'Feel Like I Ain't Got A Home' stands out as superior blues-rock." Dirty Linen (p.55) - "[A]n album that will strengthen his legacy....'Going Home,' one of two traditional songs -- the rest are originals -- is one of the best tracks and a poignantly prophetic gospel song..." Living Blues (p.42) - "'Can't Let Go' and 'Have You No Shame' reveal Costello's growing confidence and sophistication, especially in his soul-inspired vocal work..." | | Ronnie Earl Duke Meets The Earl CD (2005)
We Can Get Together songs
$18.59 The Duke Meets the Earl seems like an obvious album, pairing two of New England's finest contemporary blues guitarists, Duke Robillard and Ronnie Earl, who both share the same sort of hard, clear tone in their playing (Earl actually replaced Robillard in Roomful of Blues when the latter left the group for a solo career). For Earl, who has been working in a kind of jazz blues hybrid style in recent years, it marks a return to straight blues, and with guests like Jimmy McGriff and Mighty Sam McClain aboard on select tracks, The Duke Meets the Earl has the feel of a super session. Throughout, Earl's guitar is featured in the left channel and Robillard's in the right, leading to some wonderful guitar dialogues, particularly on an epic, nearly 16-minute-long version of Walter Price's "My ...
| | Jeff Healey Mess Of Blues CD (2008)
We Can Get Together album
$12.89 Mess of Blues contains ten cuts, all of them chosen by Healey from what he considered "audience favorites," rather than his own or his fine band's preferred tunes. Four of these were recorded in front of audiences at the Islington Academy in London and, appropriately enough, at Healey's Roadhouse (his club) in Toronto. The other six were cut at Studio 92 in Canada by Norm Barker and Richard Uglow. Make no mistake: while this an electric blues record to be sure, the very eclectic selection of tracks also puts the words "blues-rock" in bold print. One example is the scorched earth reading of Neil Young's "Like a Hurricane." But there are others, too: the New Orleans-funked up second-line rhythmic pulse shoved right up against early rockabilly in the version of Hank Williams' "Jambalaya"; the ...
| | Sonny Landreth From The Reach CD (2008)
We Can Get Together CD music
$13.49 Louisiana slide master Sonny Landreth takes his time between releases -- his last studio disc of original material was five years prior to this -- but when they arrive, the wait seems justified. For the debut album on his own Landfall records, Landreth calls in marquee name guitarists Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Robben Ford, Eric Johnson, and Vince Gill to bolster the visibility factor. ...

His particular “groove” is authentic and genuine which is always required by the idiom and his many prestigious collaborations and performances in Italy and abroad confirm his artistic stature. The Blues as played by Guitar Ray reflects everyday life and his fascinating nuances will grab your attention like a great photograph, a wonderful book to read, or a ...
