| Command Performance Music Review Average Rating: (3.5 out of 5 stars) rebuttal this Cd is composed of music recorded from the "Legendary Rythm and Blues Cruise. The cruise happens twice a year. On on the east coast, cruising the caribbean. The other cruise is west coast, which leaves San Diego and travels through baja and I believe Puerto Vallarta. There are an assortment of fantastic performers on board playing blues night and day. If you are looking for Howlin Wolf or Muddy Waters, sorry they have passed on. These performers are all current. Nice CD, but "Legendary", I don't Know? Smokin’ blues. Southern boogie blues/rock similar to early 'Wet Willie', and more standard Chicago style electric blues with a horn section, etc. If you are into electric blues, blues/rock, you’ll probably like this recording. It’s all live material recorded at maybe half a dozen different venues, clubs, etc, and the recording quality is good throughout. I think the group’s home-base must be somewhere on the west coast (California I would assume).
As good as the CD is, I do find the group’s name amusing – “Legendary” Rhythm & Blues Revue. Apparently this is supposed to be some R&B “Super Group” according to the CD booklet notes, but I’ve never heard of any of the core players with one exception – the harmonica player “Magic Dick” from his J. Geils Band days (and I’ve been listening to all types of music for quite a few years). I always thought a characteristic of a “Super Group” was that it contained two or more established artists that had already made a name for themselves in an earlier group or as a solo artist. Well, maybe they are “Legends” in their own minds, but that is neither here nor there . . . One of the guitarists/vocalists is the son of Lonnie Brooks, who I am familiar with going back to the days of vinyl. The main reason I purchased the CD is because I saw Marcia Ball listed as a guest on the CD. As it turns out, she only plays piano on one song and piano and lead vocals on a second song. Even though her contribution is pretty minor, I’m not disappointed with the CD. In summary the music is good, and the “Legendary” name is amusing.

$11.95 The Southern California dream pop band Trespassers William make their Nettwerk debut by reissuing their 2002 album Different Stars. Originally issued on the band's own Sonik Wire and eventually Simon Raymonde's Bella Union in the U.K., this particular package doesn't totally differ from its previous releases. It's basically a preview to the band's hypnotic and lush soundscape that's yet to come. Those who are familiar with Trespassers William's delightful pop melodies might already own Different Stars, ...

$21.29 One of the great party albums of the 1960s, DANCE PARTY was, oddly enough, the work of a Motown act that wasn't known for delivering great albums. Martha & the Vandellas had enjoyed some serious hits from 1964 onward, but hadn't quite measured up in the LP department until the release of DANCE PARTY in the spring of 1965. Made up of material from singles that went back to the previous summer, the album benefited from the presence of the group's biggest single, "Dancing in the Street," its follow-up, the hypnotically pounding, driving, soaring "Wild One," and the classic "Nowhere to Run," surrounded by a trio of well-above-average B-sides and covers ...

Muja Messiah released MPLS Massacre vol.1. with it's more hardcore, aggressive tracks including the internet jumps "Amy Winehouse", "Patriot Act" ft.I-Self Devine, MIA's "Paper Planes" , O'Silly Me" ft. Slug, and "True Lies". Walking the titerope between hardcore street anthems, humor laced party joints and political manifestos."The mixed-bag aesthetic on "Mpls. Massacre" is actually perfect for Muja Messiah. He's the rare rapper who knows inner-city violence firsthand -- but who also knows plenty about politics, socioeconomics and other topics popular in so-called backpacker hip-hop. Muja Messiah is, thankfully, the rare Minneapolis rapper not trying to sound like Slug." - Chris Riemenschnider- Star TribuneMuja Messiah's "Amy Winehouse" takes on Rihanna's "Umbrella" while celebrating his city, shouting out Amy Winehouse and heeding advice from Russell Simmons. While Muja is deep within a Minneapolis hip hop scene that has been caustically deemed college-rap, his voice rears songs that are blatently street-centric, pushing thought and innovation alike with his critical take on Bush's administration ("Patriot Act") and his M.I.A. "Paper Planes" mash. – Culture Bully"Don't front . Don't wait for the critics to jump on this dude before you start giving it up to dude. Muja is the shit. I'd put him right there with Saigon and Tech in terms of talent on that intelligent hood dude shit. The man is right with his. He's dope live too." - Brother AliMuja Messiah has been hailed as Minneapolis next great hop-hop messiah, after a few false starts, real life battles and the loss of several family members and close friends, either through the jail system or violent deaths, that so often await ...
