Highlander: The Source Movie Review Average Rating: (2.8 out of 5 stars) Competition for worst Highlander movie Having been a member of the "Highlander Clan" since the 90's, I had to see this movie. As a previous post mentions, this movie takes place in Eastern Europe. This movie does not address the rest of the world.
I found the cinematography to be an annoyance and hard to enjoy. With particular attention to "The Guardian" as portrayed by by actor Cristian Solimeno's hyper-fast-running scenes. They seemed awkward and failed to engage me as the way a Speilberg running scene would.
The budget was low, the special effects such as pyro, green-screen, and dialogue was all atrocious.
I look forward to good highlander movies that integrate the movie franchise with the tv franchise. I hear they are considering remaking the original Highlander.
I do hope they do not ruin it like they ruined the second and fifth film installments. Submitted by mr_greybeard (Sherwood, OR, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Bad Editting Decisions will ruin any movie It isn't that Highlander: The Source (H:TS), is well-written (it isn't), well-acted (it isn't, though both Adrian Paul and Jim Byrnes feel as though they have recaptured their roles from the height of Highlander: The Series), or well paced (it isn't). It is, on the face of it, a bad movie, but not an inexcusably bad one. No, it is the editing that ultimately ruins H:TS. Using quick cuts and the current generation's answer to fast motion photography, H:TS is devoid of all of the earthiness of the original Highlander or Highlander: The Series. It also has several questionable plot choices (hey, there are cannibals...for some reason...there just are), and one fantastic choice (all those immortals may have been chopping off each other's heads for no reason), but with a bad guy who is a cross between a teenage bully, Clown from Spawn, and the Silent Hill monster, H:TS is ultimately little more than a mess. There Can Be Only One, but this one wasn't I recently saw this movie and found it to be a severe disappointment. As a Highlander fan, I own every movie and every season of the series. The budget appeared to be low, the cinematography was ok at best, it never made it to theatrical release for a reason.
The writers require us to believe that Duncan Macleod the second "Highlander" is so pure that he would make a self sacrificing gesture at the end of the film. Yet; is this is the same Duncan that killed his own friend Richie?
The film is filmed and set in Easter Europe; wherein a large breakdown of law and order has plagued that region. But what of the rest of the globe.
As for the ending; Sure it leaves it open for a sequel, but with Higlanders 2 and 5 as poor as they are and with an absence of the original "Highlander" Conner, not many more stories are worth telling at this point.
They had the chance to reinvigorate the franchise, unfortunately they missed that boat.
Rent it, don't buy it, unless of course you are a member of the Highlander Clan

Highlander: The Source movie DVD
$10.25 Directed by Brian Robbins (VARSITY BLUES, THE PERFECT SCORE), this updated spin on THE SHAGGY DOG and THE SHAGGY D.A. features Tim Allen as Dave Douglas, a Deputy District Attorney who spends way too much time at the office and way too little time with his family. His son, Joe (Spencer Breslin), feels completely misunderstood, and his wife, Rachel (Kristin Davis), feels like a single parent. To make matters worse, his teenage daughter, Carly (Zena Gray), considers Douglas the enemy because he is representing a pharmaceutical company, Grant and Strickland, in their case against her social studies teacher, who is accused of burning down their lab to protest animal testing. Douglas' life changes in an instant when animal-loving Carly brings home a friendly shaggy dog that bites the dog-disliking D.A.
What Douglas doesn't know is that the dog has a secret. This Tibetan wonder dog is 300 years old, as smart as a human, and as playful as a pup. Soon, Douglas is exhibiting canine tendencies himself - a heightened sense of smell, a tendency to growl at opposing counsel in court, and ...

Highlander: The Source video
$14.39 The early 2000s have seen a string of big-budget remakes of classic horror films. In addition to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and THE HILLS HAVE EYES, John Carpenter's benchmark slasher flick HALLOWEEN has been given a new-millennial overhaul. At the helm of the project sits rocker Rob Zombie, whose previous films, HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES and THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, brought a fan's touch and an auteur's vision to the director's chair. While Zombie's HALLOWEEN is faithful to Carpenter's vision, there are some obvious changes, the most pronounced of these being the substantial focus on Michael Myers's childhood. The film posits Michael (played by a creepily vacant Daeg Faerch) as a troubled child made all the worse by a horrible home life--wonderfully illustrated via William Forsythe's performance as Deborah Myers's boyfriend--and ...
