Culture Brothers was formed by Karma who is Tibetan and Carl who is Yup’ik.Tibet was a large independent land in the Himalayan area. For centuries Tibetans have been studying the mind, achieving a peaceful way of life and developing a unique culture. In 1949 Tibet was subjugated by Chinese Communists. He grew up in India and Nepal and now lives in Alaska. His parents fled from Tibet, walking across the Himalayan mountains. Karma was raised as a Buddhist monk in the Swayambhunath monastery, the famous Monkey Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal. He learned music as a child from his monk teachers, including drum and rag-dun (16 feet long trumpet-type instrument).
