It's not all head-forward aggression, however, as "Hearts Burst Into Fire" flirts with emo and "Say Goodnight" glosses the classic power ballad with a fresh coat of paint. Despite that, the lasting impression they leave is the acrid scent of scorched eardrums courtesy of adrenalized tracks like the warp-speed "Last to Know" and "Ashes of the Innocent." With metal splintering into so many camps, it's good to hear an act just interested in playing it the way they remember it, only faster and harder.
Welsh traditionalists Bullet For My Valentine clearly get off on the classics. While they're sometimes lumped in with metalcore acts, they're much closer to old-school American thrashers from the '80s such as Metallica and Megadeth, and harsher '90s acts in the vein of Pantera. SCREAM AIM FIRE represents a significant forward for the band, with twisting dual leads charging ahead of the galloping rhythms and dynamic song structures.
Bullet for My Valentine: Matthew Tuck (vocals, guitar); Jay James (vocals, bass guitar); Padge (guitar); Moose Thomas (drums).
Kerrang (Magazine) (p.46) - "[A] tight and confident set and the mix of aggression and brightly polished accessibility on SCREAM AIM FIRE can only propel Bullet to even greater heights..." Q (Magazine) (p.92) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[With] bellowed vocals, duelling guitars and wholly unironic song titles..." Mojo (Publisher) (p.112) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Their dedication to heads-down riffage is impeccably delivered..." Record Collector (magazine) (p.87) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "The vocals are heavily indebted to Metallica's James Hetfield, the shredding comes from the Iron Maiden school, the riff-drum interface is pure Pantera..." Badass This is bullet at it's best. The heavier sound mixed with the singing and screaming is amazing. The poison had some really good songs and some okay songs but still wasn't convincing enough for me. This cd every song is amazing. Music like this stands out. $10.69 Welsh heavy-metal quartet Bullet for My Valentine began making serious headlines in the metal press in 2005, and with good reason. The band combines a vintage U.K. metal sound (think Iron Maiden and Judas Priest) with the ferocity of 21st-century metalcore and the emotional ...

$14.65 As its name indicates, Five Finger Death Punch packs a serious sonic wallop. On WAY OF THE FIST, the band offers up its appealing brand of metal, which moves between hardcore, ominous black metal, and melodic metal a la System of a Down or Alice in Chains. Tunes like the opener "Ashes" ...

$13.35 Right out of the gate, Singer M. Shadows leads A7X even further into melodic territory--but not without a little help. Lending her vocal support to the slow-grooving "Gunslinger" and the heavy country rocker "Dear God" and taking a solo turn on "(Unbound) The Wild Ride" is Nashville implant Shanna Crooks. A7X explore dramatic power metal in the epic "A Little Piece Of Heaven," while first single "Critical Acclaim" cuts close for what has become the group's signature ...

| | Howitzer Rise To Power CD
Scream Aim Fire CD music
$13.69 The music industry is a vast wasteland of copycats and wannabe’s. Originality gives way to formula, ambition gives way to laziness. With every generation of one hit wonders, it gets worse. But every so often, the music industry gets a bitchslap.Welcome to the next level of aggression. Howitzer has taken their disgust for the repetitive and have crafted their own brand of pure heavy metal. They don’t play by the rules, they don’t follow formulas, and they don’t listen to anybody – they simply put their money where their mouth is.Since forming in 2000, Howitzer – Jeremy Jalowiec (drums), Matt Moody (vocals/guitars) and Beau Diveley (bass) - have sharpened their skills and honed their hatred to put together the strongest metal release of 2008, the aptly titled Rise to Power.Rise to Power is the band’s signature perfection – it solidifies the long struggle and natural progression of the three separate entities that are the core of Howitzer. Backgrounds as diverse as jazz, punk, classic rock, blues, and old school metal come together to bring you a modern day Frankenstein of bone crushing metal.I, for one, am personally impressed at how the band has possessed ...

$35.29 This recording of the band's second appearance since 1996 at the jazz festival at the famous villa celimontana captures the wonderful atmosphere and connection between the band and the audience. This jazz festival, staged in the gardens of one of the great roman villas, has run for 3 months every summer for many years and features jazz groups from all over the world. The result is wanderlust's first live recording on cd. The playing is freer and more exuberant compared to some of the studio recordings, so even though the sound quality may not be 100 percent hi fi at times it is a very good document of wanderlust in full flight. "on this occasion we were rejoined by our former bass player adam armstrong, for some years now ...
