No one could have imagined back in the fall of 1971 when two teenage boys met that it would have evolved quite like this. Glen “Sargent” Granthem and Keith Smith went to high school together, but didn’t actually meet up until Glen started dating Keith’s sister. Once the common musical interest was established, the next 10 years would be theres for the taking. They played in numerous bands together, whether it be classic rock or club music, but what they enjoyed doing the most was to write and record original music together. This is when The Sargent Smith Band was born. They recorded their first efforts at Glen’s house on a two track tape recorder. They advanced into professional studios from there, but the two track is where they honed their skills as songwriters and musicians. In the early 80’s the two went their separate ways, as close friends sometimes do. Glen digging in with the Northern California music scene as Keith went south to Los Angeles to play and record.Fast forward to present day and welcome to the digital age….Through a mutual friend, the two were reunited after 25 years via the internet. Come to find out, they both had continued their love for songwriting. Both were extremely excited about working together again, but there was one problem. They lived 3,000 miles apart-Keith ending up on the east coast. But that wasn’t about to stop them. Glen’s advanced knowledge of engineering and recording put them right back in the game. Swapping digital files back and forth was the 21st century way to bring it all back together.Although they STILL haven’t seen each other in 25 years, there music has come alive again. The chemistry between the two is better than ever. Listen for yourself. Some things don’t fade away - They just get better. Nothing But Trouble album
$11.35 NIGHT CASTLE appears just in time for the big 2009 holiday season but don't be fooled: this isn't a Christmas album, even if it's sonically indistinguishable from Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other seasonal releases, and the fact that it's been dubbed "Capra-esque" certainly brings it within the realm of the season. NIGHT CASTLE brims with all the drama, pomp, and circumstance of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other records but channeling these traits through a newly created narrative does have the effect of hearing it in a somewhat new light, shifting the focus entirely to the band's attack, not melody. Still, there's not that much new here -- and the coda of seasonal covers, including the first sober version of "Nutrocker" ever cut, doesn't do much to break that spell. But for those already enchanted by the Orchestra, this will continue to enthrall.

Nothing But Trouble songs
$13.65 Taylor Swift abandons any pretense that she's a teen on her second album, FEARLESS--which isn't to say that she suddenly tarts herself up, running away from her youth in a manner that's all too familiar to many teen stars. Swift's maturation is deliberate and careful, styled after the crossover country-pop of Shania Twain and Faith Hill before they turned into divas. Despite the success of her self-titled 2006 debut, there's nothing at all diva-like about Swift on FEARLESS: she's soft-spoken and considerate, a big sister instead of a big star. Nowhere is this truer than on "Fifteen," a kind warning for a teen to watch her heart sung from the perspective of a woman who's perhaps twice that age--a sly trick for the 18-year-old Swift. There may be a hint of youthfulness to her singing but that's the only hint of girlishness here; her writing--and she had a hand in penning all 13 tracks here, with six of them bearing her solitary credit--is sharply, subtly crafted and the music is softly assured, ...
| | Z-Ro Cocaine CD (2009)
Nothing But Trouble album
$15.05 Despite his status as one of hip-hop's most prolific artists, Z-Ro never quite spreads himself too thin. The provocatively titled COCAINE is his second release from 2009, and features his trademark self-aware, yet rapier-sharp lyrics over some of the hotter beats out of the fertile Houston scene. The Intro skilfully sets out the landscape as the dark-vocaled MC reflects upon his choice of a life of street dealing without a shred ...

Nothing But Trouble music CDs
$17.75 Thirty years and probably about as many albums since Roy Harper's debut, 1997's THE DREAM SOCIETY is a thoughtful, irreverent blast of folk-rock from one of the most idiosyncratic artists of his generation. Wisely avoiding any attempt to update the basic aspects of Harper's sound--12-string ...
