I Didn't Come Here and I'm Not Leaving (So You Can Just Kiss My Ass That's What You Are) CD music This album was my first recording project. Armed with two cardioid microphones, a relatively sound proofed basement (mattresses against the windows), a guitar, synthesizer and upright bass, Kevin Fox and I recorded in what we deemed, "Two and Half Buck Studio." (Two and a Half Bucks being what we used to determine the distance I should stand from the microphone). I had a lot of fun recording this album with Fox. I think some of my favorite moments were the 4am session where we were so excited about the sound of the track we immediately burned a cd and took it out to the car to listen 3 or 4 times. (I Don't Try). Another peak was when all my friends were in town for a summer camp and we threw a party during which we recorded a live version of Voluptuous that includes a Brazilian toast many of us learned while we were on tour in Brazil earlier that summer, grand piano, guitar, beer bottle percussion and a raucous chorus of ex-choral geeks. The Techno song (Katie's a lady) results when you leave your friend alone with an acoustic track to go get a ham sandwich at 2am. I came back to what was too funny to disagree. (All the beats are manual and not programmed. Go, Fox!) For the first time at bat I think it's a great recording. In hind sight I should watch my language a little bit more, (Oh, Dyanna), but I think I just wanted to establish in the first album that I'm going to do whatever I want. Let's hope I can maintain the independence!sorry, mom.

I Didn't Come Here and I'm Not Leaving (So You Can Just Kiss My Ass That's What You Are) songs The Roxy was one of London's first and most influential punk clubs. Many bands not only cut their teeth at the venue but recorded seminal live sets there as well. 1977's LIVE AT THE ROXY is one of the earliest of these punk documents. Apparently recorded at more than one performance, the 12-track set contains a ragged but admirably snotty version of "Bored Teenagers." One of the most under-appreciated of all the original UK punk bands, the Adverts were also one of the most talented at turning their liabilities into assets. The self-description of the classic single "One-Chord Wonders" definitely fits. T.V. Smith's songs are like early Wire in their precision and economy. They also radiate a strange defiance similar to X-Ray Spex at its peak. Most live punk albums are close to worthless, but fans should check this one out.

I Didn't Come Here and I'm Not Leaving (So You Can Just Kiss My Ass That's What You Are) CD music Brian Rivera covers a myriad of musical styles on this CD and he handles them with panache and precisioned passion. Why the hell not? As Brian was once quoted as saying (actually screaming with raw hamburger meat under his arm pits): "You're gonna freakin' die someday so you might as well get used to it and make the best of it assholes!" This eclectic CD proves just that. Even when Queen Elizabeth or Uncle Charlie are complaining in the mix Brian is there still riding on top of it all, confident, collective and hungry, singing through some very memorable melodic dishes. Give this CD a run through. You'll see why Baby's Chief Distraction was number 1 on an Australian chart for over 200 weeks! Or hear the story of an unfortunate burn victim taking her losses and turning them in to a hip new dance step. Learn how to clean rabbits when that unexpected muffin boy comes to visit. It's all here waiting to infiltrate your memories. Let's face it. Brian Rivera knows all about you. So it's probably in your best interest to buy this CD and hear the ugly truth.
