| | Second Story CD Second Story Discography of CDs
You've found the modern, sophisticated style of Second Story. The band's unique brand of pop/rock blurs the line between commercial, "radio-ready" rock and a more progressive, conceptual sound. You will discover unique, yet familiar songs, in which you can pinpoint dozens of influences — yet make no direct comparisons. As originally envisioned by the band's founders, Scott and Mark, the sound of Second Story would be primed for the Lilith Fair: warm female vocals, moving lyrics, and lush musical arrangements. Yet as the band developed - and the lineup evolved - that intended musical focus blurred.Reaching more and more deeply into their myriad of influences, Second Story eventually wound up with a swirling blend of pop, rock, progressive, AAA and electronic styles; a unique "musical soufflé" which generally defies comparison to other established musical groups. "Progressive rock fans of bands with stunning female vocals in the Northeastern corner of the United States that have discovered the up and coming sounds of Second Story are a very lucky breed. The band's self-titled and independently produced album is technically superb. Featuring twelve tracks that illustrate their collaborative breadth, it also demonstrates the members' individual versatility. With tremendous lead vocals, wonderful vocal harmonies and excellent instrumental work, Second Story's debut album is certain to attract many listeners and be selected as one of the finest recordings independently released by a new artist this year. A must listen!"©1999 Russell W Elliot, from Musical DiscoveriesWith four excellent singers in the band, the group's finely honed vocal blend is their most recognizable asset. But, they are also known for finely orchestrated arrangements, which often feature unusual playing styles and instruments. All of that aside, it is clear from the very first listen to the independently produced CD - songwriting came first for Second Story. The group's members come from a long and varied history in making music. Among the band members' past projects are the highly popular "shock rock" group Inspector 12, progressive metal power trio Ransomed Soul, modern rock group Marcella's Dream (aka Under the Willow) and many more. Members of Second Story have also been involved in various audition-only ensembles, as well as done a number of freelance live and studio sessions. Since the group disbanded in 2004, members have gone on to successful projects Din Within (Mark), and FootFall (John), among others.Over the years that the band was playing, their unique 'sound' was found equally appealing by audiences at in-store appearances, outdoor festivals and rock clubs alike; they performed for appreciative audiences at popular venues all over the Delaware Valley region. In addition, the band has been a featured artist at many special events and concerts, including the Philadelphia AIDS walk, Medford Arts and Music Festival, and many other charity benefits and music festivals.Ultimately, the band members simply wrote music that satisfied themselves creatively. Infusing their songs with elements from progressive rock, pop, metal, jazz, trance... and the list goes on. The sound may not be the "least common denominator" on commercial radio, but for the many people who "get" it, it's a refreshing break from the norm. And Second Story's loyal fans thank them for it. Second Story album
$11.18 With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris Allen, for if he came in first he may have had to tame his self-styled glamazon ways. A second place finish allowed Lambert to come out of the closet and indulge in his penchant for theater on his debut, For Your Entertainment -- which isn't quite the same thing as camp, for if Adam Lambert is anything, he's earnest about his dress-up, never winking at the audience because he doesn't think there's much funny about his glitter and mascara: that's just what pop stars are supposed to do. He's learned that by listening to his stacks of Queen and Bowie records, from watching old MTV videos on YouTube, from living in a present that always competes with the ever-present past, so he takes it all at face value, mixing up arena rock guitars, new wave, disco, operatic overdubs with a constant electro pulse, glassy modern R&B, and the vague Euro strains of new millennium teen pop. All this makes For Your Entertainment very, very modern in a way few mainstream ...

Second Story songs
$22.09 With the release of GET LUCKY, Mark Knopfler has made as many solo studio albums as he made group studio albums with Dire Straits, which itself may be a signal that it's time to stop comparing his two careers and simply accept them as separate entities. Of course, since Knopfler was the lead singer, chief instrumentalist, and songwriter for Dire Straits, there are obvious similarities, even if he has taken a deliberately ...

Second Story music CDs
$16.45 "I've never approached making my demos like a lot of Nashville guys", claims Supe duJour, a.k.a. Michael Granda. "Good enough is not good enough. I've always recorded my songs to sound like records. I tell the musicians to just play their asses off and not play it safe". This is evident on 'Same Shift, Different Day', Supe's latest effort and first batch of new material since 1999's, 'Smartest Man in the World'. (2002's 'Pasta Man' was a live recording of his greatest hits). This disc is the result of two, seperate, five-song sessions, conducted in 2004. One, was with long-time friend and Ozark Mtn. Daredevil partner, Larry Lee. "Larry and I hadn't been in the studio together for some time", Supe says. "When he offered his, I jumped at the chance. I had a batch of songs. He twiddled knobs. Two of the songs from this session (Side 1) are written with veteran, Nashville song writers, Tim Carroll (Same Shift, Different Day) and Duane Jarvis (So Far, So Good). Then, Larry and I decided to cut "Take Me Back Down to the River", a song we had played decades ago and was written by Daredevil compadre, Steve Canaday. We cut it, not only because we liked the tune, but to pay tribute to Steve".The second, five-songer (Side 2) is alongside songwriting partner, Trent Summar. "He and I had written many of the songs for his New Row Mob records", Supe recalls. "But, we still had quite a few in the can. We picked five and went into Mike Webb's studio. ...
