Hailing from the musical hotbed of Minneapolis, Scott Gagner began his career as a drummer for several bands in San Francisco. When he found that his housemates didn't respond well to his noisy rehearsals, he traded in the drums for an acoustic guitar and began writing songs. A rabid interest in home recording quickly developed, and he began capturing his tunes on a 4-Track Cassette Recorder in his bedroom. Several years and several hundred songs later, he took the best tracks to a studio deep in the redwoods of northern California. He and several friends then finished the overdubs in the bedroom, adding violin, glockenspiel, mellotron, synthesizers, and of course, hand claps. The result is the eponymous debut, Cartographer. Cartographer songs
$16.45 MICHELLE CHAPPEL, Ph.D. (Princeton) left a successful career as a psychology professor to follow her dream to be a rock-n-roll star. She was voted "Most Inspirational Professor of Psychology" at UC Santa Cruz. Two years later her debut CD (PolyGram Records) made the top 10 on the radio charts overseas. For the past decade she has helped thousands of others to follow their dreams. Overcoming Adversity:Born in a small rural village in France, the young Michelle Chappel was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where she suffered under the unseen shadow of child abuse. Through sheer determination, she was able to escape to schools in other states by winning scholarships, and eventually got a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology. As a professor she quickly gained a dedicated following of students who were inspired by her playfully rebellious teaching style. But deep inside she began to hear her long forgotten melodies calling her on a quest to heal her broken child spirit, and recover the crushed blossom of her musical brilliance. Her songs and workshops are a testament to the journey we must all take to shine as our true selves. Critical Reviews:* "The audience seemed to love her, students and older people alike. Each song from Michelle's debut CD was punctuated by uproarious applause, and the end of the session brought a scream of 'Encore!' so loud that it seemed to shake the walls." City on a Hill Press (U. of California student newspaper)* "If there was one CD I could take to my grave, it's 'Simple Graces. ' It's music that heals. I haven't seen anything like Michelle since I interviewed Shakti Gawaiin(author of Creative Visualization), and John Gray (author of Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus) before he made it big. She's a star." Emmy Moore Minister, host of the TV show Voice of the Valley* "'Shine' is just terrific! The songwriting is strong and Michelle has a fantastic sound that occasionally reminds me of Lucinda Williams whom I used to go hear at bars in Austin before she became a star." Daniel Gilbert, Ph.D., author of Stumbling on Happiness* "Michelle Chappel has been the top selling local artist at Tower Records (San Jose) for the last six months. Due to this high demand, 'Infinity + 1, man' can now be found alongside other major artists, as well as in the local artist section of the store. ' Tower Records Manager, Dan McGurt* "In a world filled with "cookie cutter" recording artists, Michelle Chappel stands head and shoulders above the crowd. Strong and unique songs filled with wonderful melodies and nuance--sung with passion and humor. Check her out. You won't be disappointed." Greg Edmunson, music composer for the hit TV series King of the Hill* "Chappel has the personality and songwriting ability to hit it big." Aiding and Abetting, online music resource * "Michelle Chappel is . . . in three words . . . fab-u-lous! I am deeply grateful for her art and her gift of love." Reverend David Bruner, Center for Spiritual Living, San Jose, CA * "I am so glad Michelle shared her music and spirit. It couldn't have been more perfect." Eric Odel, Music Minister. $14.79 Recently voted \"Best Recording for children ages 5 to 8\" by The Children\'s Music Web Awards! The Kids Music Live Journal recently stated, \"every once in a while, a children's CD comes along that children AND their parents will want to play over and over again. That's the case with Uncle Moondog, a CD guaranteed to utilize a CD player's 'repeat' function many times over.\"Uncle Moondog is the brainchild of songwriter Mike McManus, whose band Egodog travels abroad each year performing for the U. S Department of Defense. Their tours have found them entertaining American soldiers stationed in such far away countries as Japan, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Hungary. In 2003, Mike decided to fulfill the wishes of his friends with young children, to come up with a fun CD that both kids as well as their parents would enjoy. Dipping into the wildest corners of ...
