| | Sam Plotkin Give Me A Sign CD Sam Plotkin Discography of CDs
Sam Plotkin is a 15 year-old from Somers, Connecticut with a soulful passion for singing, songwriting, and performing. He has been a featured soloist with the Dan Kane Singers, Western Massachusetts most popular choral singing group, since the age of 8, and has performed in several venues including the Mass Mutual Center, Six Flags New England, Springfield Symphony Hall, City Stage, the Majestic Theater, the Iron Horse Cafe, Theodores, and the Big E (Eastern States Exposition). At age 12, Sam recorded his first CD entitled "Stepping Out" and sold out his CD Release concerts. "Give Me a Sign" is a debut collection of selected original songs that Sam has written recently and recorded in Nashville with producer Cliff Downs, backed by an all-star band. Sam's true talent as a singer and songwriter shines through in this preview of his songs. Sam is a popular entertainer with a powerful presence for audiences of all ages. The review by music writer Clifton J. Noble after a sell-out performance by the Dan Kane Singers to an audience of over 4000 underscores Sam's ability to captivate his listeners: 'The vocal highlight of the evening, the electrifying moment that raised instant goose bumps, was young Sam Plotkin's account of "From a Distance"!. He delivered Gold's profound lyrics with utterly pure, unmannered vocal tone and a visible, sincere connection to their meaning in his eyes! With the right training and the right breaks, Plotkin could be following in the footsteps of Josh Groban in a few years. ' (The Republican, December, 2005) "Sam is not good, not decent, but exceptional beyond his years...He has a very old musical soul in a very young person's body...I think that's just a gift from God." Give Me A Sign album
$15.19 Scary Chicken, a Western N.Y./Buffalo Band Active from 1989-2002. The band recorded and released 4 CDs and 2 cassettes, and has had songs placed on multiple Motion Picture Soundtracks and National TV shows, most recently on Spike TV's "Top Dead Center" program."Something Anymore" is a compilation of the Band's early self-released and financed recordings from 1989-1992, and was instrumental in helping the band garner radio airplay, get out of town gigs, and ultimately attract label interest. "Something Anymore" was entirely produced and financed by the band itself, and quickly sold out it's original pressing. Scary Chicken was one of the first Buffalo groups to be able to afford to record and release an album on CD, having quickly made a substantial amount of money from frequent and well attended live club gigs, and this fact in itself was extremely helpful in getting radio airplay. This was before the advent of affordable digital home recording formats, and studio time in a professional multi-track room was expensive. Home CD burners were still years away. Most groups at the time were barely able to produce a 2 song demo cassette, which was inadequate for radio broadcast purposes."Something Anymore" is in many ways superior to the Band's XEMU Records debut album, "Is That Your Beer", which suffered from muddled production values, stretched out recording schedules, and counter productive label influences. "Is That Your Beer" does have it's moments, and did relatively well in the pre-internet and digital recording world of the early 90's, securing significant college radio airplay. A video was professionally shot for the version of "If I Showered" that was re-recorded for "Is That Your Beer", and can be easily found online and on You Tube. The band had no input on the video's content, and regret to this day that a drum set was inexplicably not provided for the shoot itself.Scary Chicken played extensively in the eastern U.S. throughout the 90's, primarily between NYC, Chicago, Toronto and Tennessee. The band was the first to tour Hard Rock Cafe clubs from Boston to Miami, and has shared the stage with Weezer, Sloan, Beck, Ben Folds 5, Goo Goo Dolls and Blue Rodeo. The band was invited to play several large outdoor "EdgeFest" concerts, and was selected for Buffalo's "Thursday in the Square" concert series. Formed in 1989, Scary Chicken passed through the Buffalo college circuit and its growing club scene, to become one of the area's most popular alternative bands. Below is an excerpt from the Band's 1995 press kit:Scary Chicken has released a series of self produced and released CDs, including 'Something Anymore' and 'Flanny EP', before being discovered in 1994 at New ...
