"Donadzar" means Holiday Tree/Christmas Tree in Armenian. This CD features New Year's and Christmas songs in Armenian for children and their families to enjoy throughout the Holidays. The Winter Holiday Season is a time for family get-togethers with a great deal of focus upon the children. This concept led Nvair Kadian Beylerian to embark on this musical project: an informal, family-style sing-a-long album. Similar to many cultural traditions throughout the world, Armenian family traditions dictate that the days of holiday celebration always include an opportunity to share one's talents and experiences. Gathered together, one family member might begin by telling a story, another might play an instrument, and yet another would lead the family in song. "Donadzar" embraces that idea by including Nvair's own family, friends and children. Following months of research, Nvair compiled a collection of songs in Armenian that can offer something to every member of the family, young or old. She feels that, "Many of these songs are musical treasures to be kept and nurtured in the family environment. Some are new, some are translations and others have been sung at Armenian holiday gatherings for generations." To meet the needs of listeners who aren't fluent in Armenian, HYEfamily.com provides transliterated lyrics within the CD's insert. Donadzar: New Years & Christmas Songs In Armenian songs
$22.79 Lynda Lybeck-Robinson …is a Northwest Native pianist, singer/songwriter and educator, who found her niche and her love in the wild frontier of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands. Her piano chops reflect a rich history of influences. Years of performing as a pianist, vocalist and arranger for vocal jazz groups, music theater, and classical music have influenced her art. What results is a diverse and pleasing mix of jazzy pop and oldies, added to her repertoire of rich, classically oriented original compositions. As a performer, Lynda has performed in Norway, Japan, Turkey, and the Western United States, including stints in Hawaii and Dutch Harbor, Alaska. She has recently been invited to perform in a classical 4-hand concert in the Loire Valley in France in July of 2009, featuring the works of Samuel Barber and Francis Poulenc. Lynda’s teaching work in Unalaska was recently featured in a 4 page article in the Magazine Clavier (Sept 2008), popular among university educators, piano instructors and concert artists. Lynda Lybeck married in 2002, and, with her husband, is raising their two sons on a small island in the Aleutians off the coast of Alaska, in the community of Unalaska. Her husband, Dennis Robinson, is proudly Unangan, and the language of the ancestors is taught on a daily basis to their two young sons and a vital part of her current recording projects. Their company, Robinson Crusoe Music, features a private teaching studio with 35 students, a recording studio, and a new non-profit venture called the Hearts and Hands Project which hopes someday to reach out with benefits for piano students in communities throughout the Aleutians and Pribolofs. Her students have produced their own CD of all-original songs every year since 2007, ...
