| | Think Global Acoustic Brazil CD - Import
THINK GLOBAL: ACOUSTIC BRAZIL is by no means an introduction to the nation's diverse wealth of music, but rather an overview of some of the more extraordinary developments in recent Brazilian music. ACOUSTIC BRAZIL is light on soul-shaking drums and backing instrumentation and heavy on lazy, unplugged tracks that are rich in vocal emotion. Chico Buarque, Maria Bethânia, Augusto Martins, Beth Carvalho, Armando Marcal, Paula Santouro, Garrafieira, and Paulo Moura are among the artists included.Global Rhythm (Publication) (p.55) - "Moreno Veloso's Orquestra Imperial skillfully recreates Chico Buarque's classic 'Sem Compromisso' in a gafiera format..." Think Global Acoustic Brazil album
$13.39 Pink Martini follow the around-the-world-in-a-dozen-songs thrills of HEY EUGENE! with SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS, a mellower, simpler set of small pleasures. These are relative terms, however; the group's music is still well-traveled, with China Forbes singing in five languages (English, Spanish, Neapolitan, French, and Italian) instead of the six or so on EUGENE!. However, Pink Martini opt for a more unified ...

| | Claude Challe Buddha-Bar, Vol. II CDs
Think Global Acoustic Brazil album
$42.69 Claude Challe's Buddha-Bar, Vol. II compilation has elements of Far Eastern spirituality, African song, European electronica, and Spanish spice. The first album, Buddha-Bar, is very mellow for the most part. Deepak Chopra and Demi Moore, far and away the most recognizable names on the album, do a spoken word ditty on love and self-worth. People who are not fans of new age doctrine will appreciate artists such as Oliver Shanti and Consuelo Luz, both of whom contribute songs that manage to sound musical, spiritual and ethnic at once. The second album varies from hallucinatory to groovy to fairly high-energy. "Tears Inshalla" will appeal to fans of Eastern-influenced trance. Lyrics are of almost no importance on the album. They do exist on most tracks, but they bounce around from English to Portuguese to Arabic. Bits and pieces and snatches of phrases come through here and there -- just enough to make a listener feel in sync with it all. This music is intended to be an ambient journey, ...

| | Spider Translator Spinning In My Grave CD (2006)
Think Global Acoustic Brazil songs
$9.59 The band’s first full length CD in three years, "Spinning In My Grave (My Sodden Bedsheets)" is a collection of nine tracks tightly focused on The Spider Translator’s dark and suspicious dreamland. Paranoid fantasies and fear-filled hallucinations are brought to light and set to music with lurching rhythms and languid melodies. Consistent with past offerings, the CD contains a provocative mix of songs, samples, and improvisation. "Spinning In My Grave (My Sodden Bedsheets)" benefits heavily from The Spider Translator members' involvement with various side projects since 2003. Studio techniques, songwriting skills, and musical dexterity have all been honed from the past three years of live performance and studio recording experience. The result is the most well performed, engineered, and mixed The Spider Translator album ever. The Spider Translator sound is a blend of experimental rock, neo-psychedelia, goth rock, and old-school industrial. Also present is the influence of rhythms and styles from Carnatic, Inupiat, ...
