Biography: Hailing from south Florida, Robots & Butterflies was formed in the summer of 2005. Since the beginning they have blended strands of Indie, Pop, and Rock with dueling female/male vocals to create a style all their own. This November the band will be putting out a new and anticipated EP titled "The Library EP". Their brand of music and energetic live performance has landed them on shows with many touring bands, Vans Warped Tour 2006, and Florida Cornerstone Festival 2007. They recently completed their first full east coast tour (self-booked) this summer, and will be hitting the road for a brief winter tour with Rosematter (Lobster Records). They continue to make friends and fans in every city they play. The Library EP:Rather then releasing a record consisting of a collection of broken hearted love songs, Robots and Butterflies, decided to sway away from their peers, and self release, “The Library EP”, a tell all tale that covers everything from, growing up in south Florida, to the hypocrisies of the local scene. Lead by 18 year old female vocalist, Abbie Cessna, this pretentious debut EP brings the band a long way from their humble beginnings, and brings a fresh new sound to their music, by infusing pieces of electronics, gang vocals, and harmonies into the mix. The band’s thirst to make a lyrical statement can be seen on stand out tracks such as “White Teens in Tight Jeans” and “This Semester”. $11.59 Though Brannon still shrieks and gnashes his throat on The Hyenas' second LP, You Can't Pray a Lie, the band takes a decisive step toward the musical setting of the moody dirges heard on future records. "Seven Come Eleven" is a rhythmic orgy of distortion and noise, while on "Lullaby and Goodnight," Brannon even manages to calm down a bit, a path he would follow more closely on all future Hyenas albums. ~ Matt Carlson

$9.75 The conspiracy began in June of 1999 with the release of Agent 22’s self titled debut. Centered on the Chapman Stick®, an instrument most people have never heard of, and dual tapped guitars, Agent 22 has been nothing but unique since they began. Their music has been called alternative, jazz, rock, progressive rock, fusion, funk... the aliases are many, and yet they have demonstrated a universal appeal by building up a grass roots following ...

| | Arthur Lyman Cotton Fields/Blowin' In The Wind CD (2008)
Library EP music CDs
$14.05 As part of their extensive reevaluation of Arthur Lyman's sizable late-'50s and 1960s back catalog, Collectors' Choice Music has paired the folk-related long-players Cotton Fields (1963) and Blowin' in the Wind (1963). The result is two-dozen above-average interpretations of concurrent pop songs, a bevy of selections from the stage and silver screen as well as a wide range of other familiar melodies. Regardless of each song's respective heritage, all the material here is given an engaging -- if not somewhat inspired -- score from Lyman (vibraphone and marimba), who is joined by Alan Soares (piano), John Kramer (bass, guitar, and flute), and Harold Chang (percussion). The Highwaymen had considerable success with their 1962 update of Huddie Ledbetter's "Cotton Fields," and the assembled bandmembers waste no time fueling their reading with a jaunty concoction of uptempo jazz and blues, with Lyman's improvisations standing out between the verses. "Suzy's Waltz" captures the combo in a soulful mood, adapting a ...

| | Encomium In Memoriam Vol. 1- Jan Berry Of Jan & Dean CD (2008)
Library EP album
$15.19 Cinecam Music Productions presents "Encomium In Memoriam Vol. 1: Jan Berry of Jan & Dean."Producers Cameron Michael Parkes and Mark A. Moore have assembled an ambitious 30-track album based on Jan Berry's personal archive of music scores (used by the famous Wrecking Crew to record original Jan & Dean songs in the 1960s)."This is a bit of musical archaeology," says Parkes, who provided many of the vocals for the album. "We wanted to revisit the authentic arrangements," confirms Moore, "to shed new light on Berry's complex productions, and inspire listeners to explore more of Jan & Dean's original recordings."Guest artists include P. F. Sloan, Vic Diaz, Jill Gibson, Tom Bahler, and Mike Deasy, all of whom participated in various ways on original Jan & Dean tracks in the 1960s. Other artists include David Marks (former Beach Boys member), Don Grady (The Yellow Balloon), Paul Johnson (surf guitar pioneer), Stephen Kalinich (Brian Wilson collaborator), Probyn Gregory (Brian Wilson band member), and Lisa Mychols, among others.Bonus tracks include audio montages from the personal collections of Berry and Joe Lubin (who discovered and produced Berry's first act, "Jan & Arnie," in 1958). Highlights feature Berry at work in the studio with Brian Wilson, Dean Torrence, Arnie Ginsburg, the Matadors, P. F. Sloan, and Steve Barri.Cameron Michael Parkes is a graduate of the film scoring program at UCLA. Mark A. Moore is a Jan Berry and Jan & Dean scholar. Parkes and Moore worked together on music and consulting for the Jan & Dean episode of A&E's Biography in 2002.****************In the summer of 1958, America's first satellites were in orbit, the country was in its worst recession since World War II, Hula-Hoops were a household item, Elvis Presley was in the army, and Buddy Holly was still alive. This is the era that spawned Jan Berry and Jan & Dean, as the West Coast music scene began to come to life.As a singer-songwriter, Jan Berry had his first Top 10 hit with “Jennie Lee” (as Jan & Arnie) in June 1958 — six months before Phil Spector hit #1 (as a writer-producer) with the Teddy Bears (December 1958). Spector’s Teddy Bears hit (“To Know Him Is To ...
