$15.65 "The Chairman of the Board" died in May of 1998, yet his music sounds as vital and relevant today as ever. Released on the 10th anniversary of his death--in coordination with a slew of DVD releases commemorating the singer's acting career as well as an official U.S. Postal Service stamp--NOTHING BUT THE BEST provides an excellent look at Sinatra's tenure at the Reprise label. Among the album's 22 vintage cuts are classics such as "The Way You Look Tonight," "Luck Be a Lady," ...

Wandering Blue CD music
$7.59 Michael Hedges is considered by many one of the most important innovators of the acoustic guitar. His total dedication to the acoustic guitar enabled him to develop a new approach to the instrument that transcended anything done before. He could sound like two--at times even three--guitarists playing at once, and his compositions drew on a wide variety of influences, from the earthy to the academic. While he is usually associated with the new age movement that flourished in the '80s and early '90s (having recorded on the flagship Windham Hill label), the reach of his music extends far beyond the ...

$12.69 My mother was Jewish. Even as a teenager in Hungary, the daughter of a religious Jewish family, shortly before the horrors of the Holocaust, she had intimations from the Blessed Mother. She did not fully understand, but she told me that Mary had saved her from Auschwitz, where almost all of her family was destroyed.Although I was raised Catholic I was never particularly interested in the Rosary, nor did I say it very often. But when my mother died in 1985, I was compelled to begin saying the Rosary daily immediately. It was as though my mother's death had given me a new mother, Mary, the mother of us all. I have said the rosary daily ever since. At St. Mary's Church in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, there is a stained-glass, rose-window which frames the Blessed Mother above the altar. Once at Mass while contemplating that window the thought occurred to me to write a rock opera based on the Rosary. But since my strength as a songwriter has always been lyrical, I knew I could never accomplish it musically. Then in 1990 I began my songwriting association with ...

| | Gail Jhonson It's About Time CD (2007)
Wandering Blue album
$8.98 2008 has been a fantastic year for Gail, and is just gets better with time!PEARLS...the new CD by Gail Jhonson is now signed by NuGroove Records, based in Moorestown NJ. This CD follows her well-received musical tracks from her 2004 release KEEP THE MUSIC PLAYING.It’s About Time...was originally written and produced in 1994 and later released in 1996. Here is a little history of how this record developed. Prior to this, I had several groups that had label potential-"2X2" a contemporary jazz quartet, "One on One" a keyboard & guitar R&B duo & all-female jazz qunitet "Beau". None of those projects panned out, then I had the opportunity to work with guitarist Norman Brown in 1991. I soon became music director and I was very excited about us going on tour and opening up for superstar Patti LaBelle. After we finished the west coast “leg” of the tour (no pun intended), we traveled on the long awaited tour bus back east. Well, I didn’t make it to the first gig, I broke my leg...and had to be sent back home. I was devasted! I had a new baby to support and was unable to gig. So with a little help and my savings, I stayed home and decided to write “jazz” songs & submit them to various new “smooth jazz” artists. Like most musicians, we all invested in home studios; and mine paid off. As a novice studio engineer, I compiled tracks I already recorded, wrote new ones, got some of my talented friends to play or sing, then pitched them to everyone I could. Well, at the time, no one was interested. However, before the tour, I did a photo shoot for Mackie Corp. The pictures were professionally done, so I used them to help me launch my solo project after so many years of being in original bands, duos, quartets, playing R&B, Funk, Disco and Jazz. I also wrote tracks for vocalists, producers, rappers & budding hip-hop artists. So, my mindset is was to treat this project as a demo and somebody would be interested & sign me up. ...
