| | Phil Thorne You Don't Know My Mind CD Phil Thorne Discography of CDs
Recall the sounds of a Delta juke joint or a Chicago rent party with Phil's swinging repertoire of real blues in the style of the pre-war masters such as Tampa Red Kokomo Arnold and others. 'You Don't My Mind' is a collection of great songs - some familiar to blues fans, some not so well known - arranged by Phil and played on a selection of resonator and wood guitars in both slide and finger styles to accompany his authentic vocals, and using piano, mandolin and sousaphone accompaniments. Phil has produced a CD that recreates the feel of this great music without playing note for note covers. He has entertained audiences all over England. His previous (2001) CD 'Step it up & Go!' was well received and got an excellent review in 'Blues in Britain'. Originally from the North-east of England and now based in Kent, Phil has been a blues fan since the 60's, and, having studied with such masters as John Jackson, Louisiana Red and Jerry Ricks, has been performing for the last 10 years, playing in pubs, clubs and at festivals. The most common comment on his performances is '... that sounds just like the old records....'. An accomplished slide and finger-picking guitarist Phil also gives tuition and workshops in blues finger-picking and slide guitar. You Don't Know My Mind album
$6.79 You might mistake this for a live record, but this is actually a 1973 studio release by the Texas blues guitar master. Winter's first release after a brief retirement/drying-out period, STILL ALIVE AND WELL, from the title on down, has the feeling of a major comeback, although Winter really hadn't been gone for very long. Looking hale and hearty on the cover--or as hale and hearty as a rail-thin albino can look, anyway--Winter ...
| | Buddy's Baddest: The Best Of Buddy Guy CD (1999)
You Don't Know My Mind CD music
$8.99 In 1991 Buddy Guy teamed up with Silvertone Records, doubtless hoping for a piece of the action being enjoyed by John Lee Hooker following his career-reviving THE HEALER. Featuring a crack selection of backing musicians, DAMN RIGHT, I'VE GOT THE BLUES was liberally spiced with big name rock artists. The formula worked and Buddy Guy won many new fans. On the next two albums, FEELS LIKE RAIN and SLIPPIN' IN, the heavy friends were gradually phased out in favour of fine ensemble work.
Tellingly, of the four tracks chosen from DAMN RIGHT, only "Mustang Sally" has a stellar contribution (from Jeff Beck). The three songs selected from FEELS LIKE RAIN include the lovely title track, written by ...
| | Step Aside Good News CD (2007)
You Don't Know My Mind music CDs
$10.15 Step Aside has a vision, and that vision includes a music scene that people are proud to be a part of because it never dissapoints. How do they bring this vision to reality you ask? The answer is by giving back to the fans as much as possible and providing them with the funnest and most outrageous shows. Not many bands in this day and age are concerned with providing shows like that. Step Aside is the result of a merger between two previous bands. When one of those bands, Wombat Warfare fell apart in 2003, rhythm guitarrist ...
