The Way To Free album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" from The Mule Variations, "Trampled Rose" from Real Gone, and a haunting version of Leadbelly's "Fannin Street" from Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards, to mention just three of the 17 cuts here. But he goes back to his Island albums too. For instance, there are completely re-visioned readings of "Lucky Day" and "I'll Shoot the Moon" from 1993's Black Rider, and a killer ...

The Way To Free CD music
$13.19 Digitally remastered by Doug Sax (The Mastering Lab, Los Angeles, California).

The breakthrough success of DARK SIDE OF THE MOON made WISH YOU WERE HERE a crucial follow-up in strictly commercial terms. Further pressure came from it being Pink Floyd's first recording for a new label, Columbia. Yet the demands on the band only provided Roger Waters with more fodder for his lyrics, which glanced at the band's roots as well as their new responsibilities.

The Way To Free songs
$12.25 Singer/songwriter John Stewart's musical career reaches back to the early '60s with the Kingston Trio, and so a new collection of his songs, presented with fairly basic arrangements, must seem like something of a homecoming. Stewart's smoky, weathered vocals (with just a touch of reverb added) brings an authentic style to "Baby, It's You," "Jasmine," and the title cut. He's joined on a number of cuts by bassist Dave Batti, percussionist John Hoke, harp player Henry Diltz, and, in one instance, the background singing of Penny Roberts, Bianca Batti, Kate Wallace, ...
| | Picture Connect CD (2006)
The Way To Free album
$9.75 "The Picture's tales of the modern world are backed by epic soundscapes and dramatic highs and lows wrapped tightly with indie ethos. Songs with the urgency of a NYC cab driver elevate the Picture's perfect-pop decadence above its contemporaries, with a complementary Britpop facade blaze that's sometimes doused with William Reid's dirty bottle of whisky." - The Pill The Picture formed in New York City in the spring of 2004 shortly after singer/writer Robert Abel met guitarist Chris Buckle from Liverpool, England. They were soon joined by drummer Jared Vergilis, bass player Jake Siegler and keyboard player Justin Repasky. The band has recorded with two-time Grammy nominated producer Carmen Rizzo (Grant Lee Phillips, Alanis Morissette, Paul Oakenfold, Billy Corgan, etc.) and top engineer Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay-Z, Johnny Cash, Mars Volta, etc.). Currently the band has released their debut CD, "Connect", on Lovely Recordings. The band regularly tours regionally in the US and the UK. The follow up to "Connect" is being recorded in September in Brooklyn at Headgear Studios. The Picture is:Robert Abel - vocals, guitarChris Buckle - lead guitarJustin Repasky - keyboardsJake Siegler - bassJared Vergilis - drums'One part Jesus and Mary Chain, a little Blur, a hint of the Stone Roses, The Picture's songs quite frankly rock. ' - Daily Candy, The New York Sun"Onto a stage set by the likes of Coldplay and their Scottish predecessors Travis, strolls Robert Abel of The Picture - a songwriter that is quietly unassuming, yet full of Bono-istic crescendo." - City Paper, Pittsburgh "There is no denying good pop hooks, when you hear them. The Picture gives us a dose of old post romantics, U2, with a dash of new-wave influences thrown in to smooth out the edges." - crashinin 'Picture this - a hot new band that strongly rivals Wolf Parade and We Are Scientists. With instant hits like 'Blind Side' and 'Sellout" this band is one to watch in 2006. ' - The Tripwire"One of our favorite ...
