| | P Willie My Friends CD P Willie Discography of CDs
P. Willie has been playing guitar for over 35 years. He has crossed paths with many famous musicians and songwriters, including trumpeter Rick Braun, Americana artist Ray Wylie Hubbard, and singer/songwriter, composer of the Dixie Chicks hit "Wide Open Spaces" Susan Gibson. Having been living in the San Antonio to Austin corridor for the past 7 years, P. Willie is exposed to a wide range of music, including country, Americana, rock, blues, hip-hop, metal, and Latin styles. It all enters into his playing in some way. This album features songs about Friends. The lead off track, My Friends introduces the album. Next comes The Best Man Blues, loosely inspired by a friend from Las Vegas, Bill Boan, a fine mechanic. Track 3 is His Sister Cried, dedicated to the memory of Lt. Col Eric Krueger, the late brother of singer/songwriter Kristy Krueger. King of the Blues is inspired by all those who enter the annual Guitar Center competition. When That Juice Gets Talkin' features a story about Katie, a young friend from a bar called The Red Baron. Live for Today reflects on P. Willie's roots, growing up in the rust belt of Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley. Friday Night Man is a friend's lament about paying for drinks for a girl he sees only once a week. Texas Blues Train is dedicated to Beth Piekarski, a friend of P. Willie who passed away this last year. Free Love Song is for P. Willie's loving wife, Sheree. Let My Neck Out of Your Rope examines the emotion of P. Willie's friend Jason, as he struggled with feelings about a divorce. For Nobody Spends a Dime, we return to Red Baron crowd, and hear about a night and a fight, and the eventual demise of the Monday Night Red Baron crew. When I Heard That Song is P. Willie's apology to Sheree for a night he came home much too late. The Waiter Protegee is inspired by a story told by P. Willie's friend Ken Frazer, about a chance to work as a waiter, one Mother's Day. Are You Worth My Time was developed at the Augusta Heritage Center Blues Week one year, incorporating ideas from the great Pat Donohue, who taught the songwriting class one year. Finally, The Search for Truth, recalls days in P. Willie's youth with work friends from the Naval Air Development Center. P. Willie plays all guitars and basses on the album. All drums and keyboard mood parts are programmed by P. Willie. This album was recorded in Apple's Garageband 3. Quite possibly the only electric blues/rock guitarist to come near rivalling Jimi Hendrix, Vaughan, who, like Hendrix, died tragically, was so good he was ridiculous. He was lacking in really good material, and his own compositions were mainly guitar workouts, such as "Rude Mood," although he shows great feeling on the instrumental "Lenny." He is much more comfortable singing ...

$12.29 At one time or another, blues guitarist Eddie C. Campbell played with almost all of the Chicago blues greats, from Willie Dixon to Little Walter, but he didn't release an album under his own name until 1977's KING OF THE JUNGLE. Since then, ...
| | Eric Clapton From The Cradle CD (1994)
My Friends CD music
$10.09 FROM THE CRADLE won the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album. It was also nominated for Album Of The Year.
Some 30 years after cutting BLUESBREAKERS with John Mayall, Slowhand is back--and he's plugged in, too. From the Elmore James-styled slide grunge that heralds Leroy Carr's classic "Blues Before Sunrise," to his sweet, pearly tones on an agonizingly slow "Third Degree," it's clear that FROM THE CRADLE really is your parents' Eric Clapton.
Nearly every album Clapton's ever done has had a suggestion of his roots. But there's more than a suggestion of blues on impassioned, unhinged solos like "Five Long Years," "It Hurts Me Too" and "Someday After A While"--Clapton betrays a childlike pleasure in coming out from behind his pop persona, and the joy is infectious.
That's because FROM THE CRADLE is recorded live...that is to say, everyone at once, with no instrumental or vocal overdubs (save for the sweet ...
