Indian Reservation album
$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").
All the tunes make effective templates for the kind off-the-cuff music-making that in less capable hands might have resulted in simple noodling. In fact, although Bloomfield and Stills don't play together on any of the cuts (Bloomfield played on one side of the original LP, Stills on the other), all three principals get off lots of good licks and producer Kooper has some interesting tricks up his sleeve, as in the over-the-top phasing he lavishes on "You Don't Love ...
| | Eric Clapton E.C. Was Here CD (1975) Remastered
Indian Reservation CD music
$6.49 On the original LP, the song "Drifting Blues" faded out after about 3 minutes. The CD contains the complete 11:31 version.
Released in the same year as 1975's THERE'S ONE IN EVERY CROWD, E.C. WAS HERE is a live album short on content but long in presentation. Backed by his usual mid-70's studio cohorts (George Terry, Jamie Oldaker, Yvonne Elliman, Marcy Levy, etc.), Clapton ignored his then-current material off CROWD and 461 OCEAN BOULEVARD, instead choosing to explore his immediate, post-Cream era along with some extended, old favorites. "Presence Of The Lord" ...

Indian Reservation songs
$17.19 Legendary delta bluesman Son House spoke about a passion for his music and was quoted as saying "I'm talkin’ 'bout the blues. . . I ain't talkin' 'bout monkey junk!" MonkeyJunk is a band that draws heavily on the legends of the blues and translates that influence into a contemporary blend of swamp R&B, soul boogie and bedroom funk. This triple threat trio comprised of Steve Marriner, Tony D and Matt Sobb draws on over 56 years of combined experience playing blues live and in studio . . . and it shows. In the fall of 2008, MonkeyJunk was nominated for a Maple Blues Award for best new artist - a rare feat only having been in exsistence for 6 months and not having released a record yet . . . In February 2009, MonkeyJunk represented Ottawa, Canada at The International Blues Challenge held in Memphis, TN competing amongst 100 bands from Poland, Croatia, Norway, Italy, Israel, ...

| | Barry Thomas Goldberg Cottonwood CD (2004)
Indian Reservation music CDs
$11.15 NEW...."Remember New Orleans" free download of Goldberg'snew tribute song to New Orleans at www.ironweeds.comAlbum Description:The attempt to balance idealism and realism, courage and fear in an increasingly frightening world, is the thread that runs through this powerful collection of songs. Metaphorical and literal, humorous and moody, Cottonwood is Barry Thomas Goldberg's follow-up to last year's critically acclaimed "Empire Moon".splendid > reviews > 5/6/2004Given the timing of Cottonwood's release, in the midst of the never-ending Iraqi non-war, it's hard not to hear the album's peace-loving lyrics as a direct indictment of the state of our world. Throughout his long running, although unfortunately fringe musical career, Goldberg has made it a point to speak out for his causes, and Cottonwood is no exception. Even the song titles speak volumes: "We're All Africans" and "World War III" certainly offer no nominal PC patina, and the actual lyrics are even more straightforward. "WWIII" heralds - none too sardonically - the arrival of Orwell's imagined nightmare under the flag-waving cloak of the Patriot Act: "Lose your liberty / For security / Don't you want to be free? / Or are you like the enemy?" Meanwhile, "Utopia" contrasts the elusive promised land with "The killing grounds of Baghdad / The blood-stained hills of Korea / People shouting in the streets of Tehran...." and finally, "...The lonely houses of America."As unequivocal as Goldberg's protestations may be, he nonetheless avoids sounding preachy or partisan. Certainly, George W. Bush would do well to take Goldberg's message to heart, but ultimately, Cottonwood's political lyrics succeed via a healthy dose of moderation. There's no fiery anger here - only a calmly resigned sadness. It's dark and cynical, but all the more effective for its stark portrayal, ...

Indian Reservation songs
$12.00 The music of "Drifted Into Deeper Lands" was inspired by Gregory’s dreams and journeys into the Great Southwestern deserts of Arizona and New Mexico. It contains more extended tracks compared to his previous work, dwelling in a slightly Steve Roach-like ambient style. It is free form soundscape music with occasional use of percussion, creating a beautiful tranquil, introspective feel which shines through all pieces.Ambient guitarist Jeff Pearce joins Gregory on two tracks of the album. This desert immersion is created with quite an original range of sounds which I think no ambient fan should miss.Like "Transcendence", this album was also re-released on Gregory’s ...
