| | Fugees Bootleg Versions CD Fugees Discography of CDs
This eight-track EP compresses the Fugees' two-album output for the heads who may only know 1996's THE SCORE, and spotlights the aspects that have led to their mega-platinum success--lyrical compassion, new-school-plus-one production, Lauryn Hill's mad mic skills. And for those who already knew these beats backward and forward, the remixes take the songs to a new level.
Clark Kent's take on "Ready Or Not" (now based on a loop of the Modern Jazz Quartet's "Django") makes the track completely over, while a re-recorded "No Woman No Cry" (complete with Marley offspring on vocals and Wailers guitarist Earl "Chinna" Smith on six-string skank) pulls longingly on the heartstrings. But the EP's most fun moments come during the taped phone conversations dispersed throughout--particularly the one in which a music executive moans about the band bootlegging its own records and giving them away.

But the one new tune, 'Don't Cry, Dry Your Eyes,' should make their next record a much-anticipated one." - Rating: B Bootleg Versions Music | List Price | $6.99 (You save $1.04) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, R&B CDs, Dance, East Coast Rap, Rap | | Label | Columbia | | Orig Year | 1996 | | All Time Sales Rank | 495850 | | CD Universe Part number | 7610172 | | Catalog number | 724981 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Mar 01, 2008 | | Studio/Live | Mixed | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Personnel | Ian Coleman, Earl Smith, Sharon Marley, Wilburn Cole, Steady Rider, Eric Newell, Glenn Brownie, Mallory William, Pamela Hall, Taro McLaugnlin, Steve Marley, Stephen Marley |

Combining musical styles ranging from rock and jazz to funk and folk, Special Ed makes it all come together in an organic fun and jammy atmosphere. The word "musical" best describes this band-they are as capable of loud and raucous as they are of soft and macabre or lilting and melodic, depending on the mood called for in the moment. The band is comprised of Ed Roman on bass and lead vocals, Dave Patel on drums, and Mike Freedman on guitars and vocals. Though the group formed in the late 90's, the three musicians have been close friends since their early high school and college days. In the years that have transpired since, they have amassed a wealth of life and musical experience, which is evident in the depth and originality of the music. Since the band's formation, Special Ed & The Musically Challenged has recorded two full-length discs. The first self-titled disc combined Ed's basement tapes with some band performances lending to a very organic feel, reminiscent of the values of the band's members. Their second release, Are You Okay, received considerable airplay on CBC radio and positive press reviews, as the song State Of The World became a favourite among local and regional college radio stations. Each of the songs features Ed's very distinct lyrical and musical style fused with Dave's strong backbeat and Mike's dynamic and textural guitar sounds. The messages within the songs are relevant and powerful and speak to current and personal issues and the members' true desire to make an impact on peoples lives and the world, through their musicSpecial Ed & The Musically Challenged has been active, playing gigs in the Southern Ontario area, and has become well known for their live and energetic performances. The trio transition between styles and moods with ease capitalizing on their strong creative energy and keep the music and live performances engaging and captivating with the use of odd off-time jams and improvisational prowess. In addition to having played numerous ...

$6.65 Contains selections Gaye was working on at the time of his death and some earlier unreleased material.
Portions of DREAM are culled from numerous secret recordings Gaye had made over the years. The rest comes from the album he was working on before his death. In this sense, DREAM is Gaye's last record. Fans of his classic '60s albums may take issue with the heavily synthesized feel of the sonic landscape here, Truth be told, Gaye seems more like himself than ever. Unlike fellow smooth-soul legend Al Green, who sacrificed his secular sensuousness for more sacred subjects, Gaye has gone in the opposite direction--so much so that the record carries a lyrical-content warning.
Gaye isn't afraid to push boundaries. Witness the master/slave narrative of "Masochistic Beauty." ...
