| | Willie Dixon Poet Of The Blues CD Willie Dixon Discography of CDs
In 1970, Willie Dixon released an album entitled I AM THE BLUES. It was a brash claim, but if anyone in blues history could make it, it was Dixon. Over the course of his career, he penned a suitcase full of tunes that defined Chicago blues, easily the most influential strand of the blues in the post-war era.
This anthology collects several of his best known songs, in versions from the aforementioned I AM THE BLUES ALBUM, along with some lesser-known material that he recorded in the late '40s with his band the Big 3 Trio. Some of it--particularly instrumentals like "Big 3 Stomp" and "O.C. Bounce"--is reminiscent of what Nat "King" Cole was doing at the time, and is considerably jazzier than you might expect.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.

Poet Of The Blues album
$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal ...

| | Jasonharwell Com Jasonharwell.Com Vol. 1-Flavor Of The Year CD (2006)
Poet Of The Blues album
$11.39 It all began with a dream. A purpose. A quest. Indie/folk/pop artist Jason Harwell had an idea in the shower - to write and record a song a week to post on JasonHarwell.com. Sure, it had been done before, he thought, but to the best of his knowledge, no one had attempted to write and record a year's worth of songs from just about every conceivable genre of music - from rap to rock to punk to pop to reggae to acoustic to "anglo-soul" - the list would go on. And so he did. He wrote and recorded his little heart out, and as the first year of the "Flavor of the Week" (as it came to be known), the songs had been such a hit with fans online and at shows, that a murmur began to grow. The people wanted these Flavors on a CD, and they wanted it NOW. James Brown said it best when he said, "Gotta give 'em what they want - uhh! - gotta give 'em what they need!", and so Jason took the "best" Flavors of the Week from 2004 and put them together to form this collection, "JasonHarwell.com Presents: The Flavor of the Year, Volume One". You have to put the quotes around the word when you say "best" in this case because, well, we're not sure exactly what to call ...

Other audience members also took notice of it and later concurred with his mother that indeed, the baby boy was a musician at heart.Trained as a classical artist by the nation's best pedagogues and pianists, Mr. Hall began playing piano in public at age four. His early teachers ...
