One of the few early studio (as opposed to club) recordings by the early Dave Brubeck Quartet (this version has bassist Bob Bates and drummer Joe Dodge in addition to pianist Brubeck and altoist Paul Desmond), the fine unit performs nine standards plus three new compositions: "Stompin' for Mili," "Audrey" (dedicated to Audrey Hepburn) and Brubeck's classic, "The Duke." ~ Scott Yanow

This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ Spinbad.
DJ Spinbad collects a wide selection of dancefloor fillers. Every track is recognized as a classic and will be familiar to hip-hop fans. The golden age is well represented with each of its major players supplying a track. None of these tracks are rare mixes or hard to come by, but they flow together nicely and make for a good party album. Spinbad doesn't overdo his presence on the album. His scratching doesn't upset the flow and is subtler than you'd expect. The emphasis seems to be on quality of the original tracks and the cohesiveness of the entire album. Spinbad flexes his muscle on Run-D.M.C.'s "Peter Piper" and creates the most memorable track on the album. The fat kick drum with Spinbad's manipulation of classic Run-D.M.C. samples is a no-brainer. On its debut for Solid State (Tooth & Nail's heavy music outpost), Indianapolis quintet Haste the Day garnishes its trad metal pacing and death and metalcore extremes with flourishes of emo and some melodic nods to Tool. The influence of acts like Living Sacrifice and Zao is strong here, in both the mixed-bag approach and the dedication to faith-based headbanging. "Blue 42" sets up the album nicely, with vocalist Jimmy Ryan screaming savagely over half-time staccato percussion before the song switches into a classic dual-guitar strut. However, Haste the Day proves even more restless in "Blue"'s final portion, shifting into a normal human singing voice. Fans of modern underground types like Poison the Well won't be thrown by the stylistic wanderlust -- it's become part of the scenery, especially in metalcore. Burning Bridges is a well-played album, especially in more straightforward metal workouts like "Closest Thing to Closure" and the absolutely incendiary "Last Goodbye." John Lewis-Baltimore MagazineRay Jozwiak is hardly your typical lounge pianist. In fact, Jozwiak bills himself as a “gonzo”pianist, and the tag fits, as his latest CD, Critic’s Choice, attests. Throughout the disc, Jozwiak displays a fractured, Monk-ish melodicism that’s balanced by a steady left hand. All eight songs have a peculiar charm, and “Back Porch” injects a peculiar Joe Jackson-like vocal into what is basically a solo piano recording. Somehow, it all works and the disc qualifies as a most pleasant surpriseBeverly Durfee-The Daily Sentinel,Grand Junction, COALBERT sounded like an out-of-tune, jazz version of “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” I couldn’t erase the mental image of Snoopy dancing on top the piano. The next two songs had me thinking this Ray Jozwiak was the love child of Linus and Mary Lou Retton. I could visualize the tumbling runs as Linus pounds out the goofy dance beats the athletes must writhe to. It wasn’t until track four, MONEY, that I finally got it. Ray brought in some funky bass that changed the cold striking of the keys into smooth, honey-fingered piano jazz. The rest of the CD was an effortless listen.
