| | Dianoh Wills Be Careful What You Wish CD (2009)
100% Kaniche music CDs
$9.29 It was a quiet summer evening as Dianoh "Dyna" sat in her usual place, the kitchen table to continue her writing. Her poetry always had a way of making you feel that she was singing in your head. Frustrated, she laid her pen down and spoke out loud. "I wish I could write a song". At that moment her 12 year old daughter Toni, walked up to her, said "Mom you can write a song". Dianoh replied "I don't know how". Toni reached for her paper, sat down and started tapping on the table. Then she said, "What's that first line, sing it, now that's your melody". That not often seen, shy quality, vanished as she began to sing. Every since that day, all her poetry has taken on the sound of music."Be Careful What You Wish", is a thought provoking song with a haunting melody that you just can't seem to get out of your head, and you'll find yourself playing it over and over, cause it just makes you feel good. It is the first song written and composed by Dianoh, copyright 1988. It was her mentor the late Conrad Johnson of Houston, Texas and her dear friend Alvin King, who were instrumental in helping her fulfill her dreams as a songwriter and songstress. "Be Careful What You Wish" was recorded at Ultimate Sounds Recording Studio, Houston, Texas and produced by her good friend Rudy "In the PM" Taylor in 1991. The current release is a remix by Sinclair Ripley of KTSU Recording, Houston, Texas. The song was mastered by the legendary Herb Powers, PM Mastering. Special thanks to him and his wife Angela Powers. A very special thank-you to my manager Joseph Norman Jr. Dianoh has garnered numerous awards for excellence in theatre. In fact she's also a former USAF Sergeant where she won the World-wide Military Contest. It was Elmer Berstein who wrote in the San Francisco Examiner, "Very very pretty, very very talented, she should be a singer too", the year 1971. In 1991 she was featured on Houston's local NBC for Black History Month and it ran for many years, describing her as avant-garde and a modern day Sojourner. Speaking of Sojourner Truth, she has performed her one woman's show incorporating Sojourner along with southern bell characters, music and song, always landing on her feet ending with a standing ovation. She has also received the Sammy Davis Junior award for Excellence in Theatre and as a Songwriter. Dianoh's dynamic manner and personal magnetism are no surprise to Houstonians. She is as unique as the spelling of her name, Dianoh. She's paid her dues no matter how long it's taken and is gracious. She has a keen sense of wit and humor. Neither pretentious nor shy, she loves people, especially children. It's uncanny that when she walks into a room, all heads turn and so does hers, wondering who they are looking at.An astute business woman who values her family first was often times considered elusive to the entertainment circuit. One evening in 1991 unexpectedly she walked in and performed one of her original songs "The One You Forgot To Love" with her favorite musicians, she turned the house out. As a result of that performance, local promoters asked her to open with jazz piano-composer legend Ahmad Jamal to celebrate the opening of the new historical downtown Houston. Folks! There is a lot more to know about this woman than just the Song "Be Careful What You Wish". Her tenacity and strength could teach us all to "Hold On To Your Dreams" (she's written that too!). Dianoh says "Friends are better than money in the bank, that ...
