Tak Hardt Uti Hand album
$8.55 This 30th Anniversary Edition is a re-recording of Arlo Guthrie's 1st album.
A product of the hippie/protest movement of the mid-'60s, Arlo Guthrie, son of perennial folk icon Woody Guthrie, found himself with not so much a hit as a whole movement on his hands with the eponymous 18-minute saga of his arrest for littering and its deleterious effect on his chances of being selected for active duty in the Vietnam War. "Alice's Restaurant" may have lost some of its counter-culture appeal over the years, but its story of blinkered ...

| | Albion Band Road Movies CD (2001) (Import) United Kingdom
Tak Hardt Uti Hand music CDs
$16.69 Ashley Hutchings has had a hand in the formation of three seminal English folk-rock outfits, including Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, and the Albion Band. Of the three bands, the Albion Band is the only one that still holds the honor of having him as a member. Road Movies is an eclectic album of jigs and contemporary folk-rock with an all-star cast. Things get started with "Press Gang," a perfect combination of folk and rock, with a nice vocal by Ken Nicol. He also plays electric guitar, giving this piece a nice edge. The oddly titled "B4391/I-95" is a lively jig, filled with lovely fiddle work by Joe Broughton, while "The Road Beneath My Wheels" has a more contemporary sound, with Kellie While handling the lead vocals. While has a full, resonant voice, and whether singing alone or with other band members, she adds spice and variety to the vocal arrangements on Road Movies. Between Nicol and While's lead vocals, and the instrumental prowess of the band, the material is continually fresh and varied. Broughton's fiddle work should also be noted, livening up songs such as "Pieces of Me" with charming runs ...
| | MJT + 3 MJT + III CD (1994)
Tak Hardt Uti Hand songs
$17.45 Originally released on Vee-Jay (3014). Includes liner notes by Ira Gitler.
Drummer Walter Perkins' MJT + lll (Modern Jazz Two plus Three) was active in Chicago during 1957-1961. Their first album (cut for Argo in 1957) had different personnel than this, their second recording, except for Perkins and bassist Bob Cranshaw. The band's debut for Vee Jay (which has been reissued as this Koch CD) features Perkins, Cranshaw, trumpeter Willie Thomas, altoist Frank Strozier, and pianist Harold Mabern. One of the better hard bop bands of the era, this unit always featured soulful solos played over boppish chord changes. Although Thomas became obscure, he often takes solo honors on this excellent set (Strozier is also in top form), which serves as a perfect introduction to the group's music. The rather brief program is augmented by three alternate takes. ~ Scott Yanow
In 1957, drummer Walter Perkins formed ...

Tak Hardt Uti Hand CD music
$16.45 I got a guitar for Christmas when I was in the 5th grade, and by high school, in 1965, I was playing in a band in Fremont, Ca. The band's name was The Tarantels, which later became Peter Wheat And The Breadmen. That same year, I had to move to So. Calif. with my mom and dad and older brother, Fred. By the way, I was just 15 years old. I started playing in bands again while at North Hollywood High School. We played Pandora's Box, and Hullabaloo on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, as well as venues in The Valley. After 5 1/2 years in the army, I was back in So. Calif. I had this dream that I wanted to record an album and write all the songs, plus do the cover artwork. It took a few years to finally get to that point. Years that included playing all kinds of venues... from bars to Elk's Lodges. Years that also included getting married and having three kids. In 1989, I finally got around to my original idea of making my own album. I sold a few copies back then in my travels while playing music jobs, then put ...
