After a three-year hiatus, Trill Entertainment's Webbie returns in 2008 with SAVAGE LIFE 2, the simply named sequel to his acclaimed debut. On the opening single, "Independent," the Baton Rouge MC sics his southern drawl on a song that's both a sincere ode to powerful women and a seriously narcotic grit-crunk beat. The track is the perfect sampling of an album rife with intelligent lyrics and stirring if comfortably familiar beats. Highlights of SAVAGE LIFE 2 include the sinister, low-end hopping "Six 12's" and the guitar-riff-centered anthem, "I'm Hot."Pitchfork (Website) - "Webbie certainly sounds like he's done some growing up since his debut. It shows on 'Independent,' the albums lead single and one of the year's most refreshing jams." Another Banger 4rm Webbie Webbie put it down on Savage Life 2. A lot of artist fail to top or even come anywhere near their first album but that's not the case with Webbie. Savage Life 2 is just as good as Savage Life, if not better. I like "Six 12's'", "Independent," "I Know," "Fly As An Eagle," "Doe Doe," and "I Miss You." This album is well worth your money and if you got subs, it is a nightmare because every track is beatin hard. Cop this cd. Submitted by Mario (Columbus, MS, USA) Was This Review Helpful? $12.99 On album number nine, Snoop branches out a bit, assuming executive producer credits and working as one-third of the production team QDT (along with Teddy Riley and DJ Quik). While the production hovers around 1970s R&B, soul, and smoothed-out funk (with conspicuous samples from Marvin Gaye, the Isleys, Brooklyn Dreams, and Prince Phillip Mitchell), there are also a few curious excursions into '80s synth-pop ("Cool") and even country music ("My Medicine"). At the same time, Snoop's lyrics are all over the place. Over the course of the album's 21 tracks, he goes from mega-boasting on his fame and wealth ("Gangsta Like Me," "Staxx in my Jeans") to celebrity name-dropping ("Deez Hollywood Nights") to seductive talk-box crooning ("Sexual Eruption") and groupie-love anthems ("Life of da Party," "Those Gurlz") ...

$14.79 el douje solo album release: Worlds CollideSanta Cruz flamenco guitarist, el douje, has just released his debut solo album. Entitled Worlds Collide, it's a unique and bold mixture of traditional and modern styles. From jondo flamenco to modern day world fusion/drum and bass/techno, the flamenco guitar playing of el douje is what unifies and sets this album apart. Containing 13 original compositions, the songs on this record gracefully stretch the stylistic bounds of tradition, while looking to the possibilities ahead.Worlds Collide is a project many years in the making. From the original vision of combining flamenco and gypsy guitar with modern elements of electronic music, four years have passed. The musical offerings range from traditional flamenco styles such as bulerias, tangos and solea, to experimental combinations defying classification.Though el douje is a solo act, the album contains extensive collaborations with a wide variety of acclaimed and accomplished musicians. Dave Weckl (of Dave Weckl Band and Chick Corea Band) lends his drumming talent on several tracks, and jazz/fusion bass legend Tom Kennedy and his 200 year old double bass also appear on numerous tracks. Members of the ground-breaking gypsy fusion band Estradasphere round out the sound with bass, saxophone and violin tracks. Shamisen master Kevin Kmetz is featured extensively on the album, adding to the unique instrumentation of the compositions. el douje bioEl douje was born Douglas Smolens in Guadalajara Mexico in the early 1970's. From an early age, he was exposed to and sought out a diverse range of musical styles. In high school, he started playing drums in a band that would go on to become Don Salsa and record the legendary cult phenomenon, Kool-Aid Moustache in Jonestown. It wasn't until after that album was finished that he really heard flamenco music for the first time, and his life would be changed forever. For whatever the reason, this particular ...

Savage Life 2 album
$16.45 Larry Shrek (actually spelled Schroeck) has been a professional singer/songwriter since 1991. The product of a musical family, Larry was born in Georgia and spent his formative years in Florida and New Jersey. He scored his first singing gig at 10 years old, making $1.50 a week as a choir boy in southwest Florida. He started playing guitar in college and what began as a hobby soon became a necessity. He has since developed a contemporary folk style all his own, influenced by the myriad of sounds he grew up with, but clearly unique and straight from his soul. As his friend and fellow musician Tom Dean said, “His songs and the voice that sings them are honest, heartfelt and captivating. A true talent.”After graduating from the University of Delaware with a biology degree, Larry aspired to be ...
