This 1997 reissue includes 4 previously unreleased bonus tracks.

Mission Of Burma had been a staggeringly loud live band, and when guitarist Roger Miller's tinnitus reached a dangerous level, the band had to call it quits, though not before one last tour. Recorded at various shows during that final tour, THE HORRIBLE TRUTH ABOUT BURMA is a posthumous collection of Mission Of Burma classics.

Opening with a blistering version of the band's classic "That's When I Reach for My Revolver" (one of the four bonus tracks added to the Ryko re-issue), it's clear that Burma intended to go out with a bang. The track, along with several others, is played at breakneck speed and what must have been ear-splitting volume. Collectors should note that, despite radically altering the album running order, the Ryko version has been remastered, so that the sound quality is extraordinarily crisp, volume notwithstanding. Other standouts include "Tremolo," during which the importance of Martin Swope's tape manipulations is made abundantly clear, absolutely scorching versions of "Go Fun, Burn Man" and the Stooges' "1970," and "Blackboard," highlighting Miller's scratchy, jagged guitar playing. An essential punk rock document.

Live at the Bradford Ballroom, Boston, March 12, 1983 (evening show)

The posthumous album, originally released in 1984, has never been available on CD until now. Re-mastered and restored to its correct sequence with 3 bonus tracks. 32-page booklet contains ephemera, photos, and interviews. Bonus DVD: Live at the Bradford Ballroom, Boston, March 12, 1983 (evening show). 'In this sense, Burma can be said to have blithely encapsulated punk's overarching mission: to draw a line connecting rock rebels past and present, and, in doing so, re-imagine and re-establish the music's anarchic condition' - Salon.com.

Mission of Burma: Roger Miller (vocals, guitar); Clint Conley (vocals, bass instrument); Peter Prescott (vocals, drums); Martin Swope (loops).

DVD Features:Entertainment Weekly (8/01/97, p.75) - "...While some of the sharply geometric riffs and chanted vocals sound dated, the power [of these tracks]...makes almost every album released today sound tame by comparison."
- Rating: A-
Q (May 2002, p.132) - 3 out of 5 stars - "...[This] posthumous live outing...is a solid enough document of 1983 vintage..."
Mojo (Publisher) (6/02, p.122) - "...Consistently excellent, from the raw beginnings tothe mannered middle, to the documentary robusto..."

Abscence Makes The Heart Grow Harder
Boyracer Abscence Makes The Heart Grow Harder CD  (2004)

Horrible Truth About Burma music CDs
CD $9.35
A dozen years into his recording career, Boyracer leader Stewart Anderson and his revolving door of bandmates have their sonic aesthetic down pat, to the extent that their albums are almost beyond reviewing. Anyone who has heard a couple of earlier Boyracer records already knows pretty much what Absence Makes the Heart Grow Harder sounds like. The only question is how well Anderson has done with his formula this time out, and in fact, Absence Makes the Heart Grow Harder is an excellent example of the Boyracer sound. Indeed, this brief, 12-track album is Boyracer stripped down to its purest essence, featuring 11 short, sharp blasts of primo fuzz-pop and one-up-yours annoyance, in the six-minute feedback-and-noise instrumental "Fuck Clapton, Fuck Hendrix." That deliberately irritating album closer aside, Absence Makes the Heart Grow Harder consists entirely of two-minutes-or-under slices of terse, nervy C-86-inspired ...

Old Glory: The Best Of Electric Flag CD  (1995)

Horrible Truth About Burma songs
CD $5.95  5 stars
Recorded between June 1967 and August 1968. Includes liner notes by Jeff Tamarkin. A perfect single-disc anthology of a band with what seemed like unlimited potential, but in reality limited output and few quality studio recordings that accurately reflected its combined musicianship. Like its musical cousins, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Electric Flag was one of the first bands to combine rock with big-band jazz swagger. This concept and the fact that Electric Flag contained Michael Bloomfield on electric guitar was reason enough for the band to be one of the most anticipated aggregations of the era. Yet many of the recordings show off the band's limitations like a sore thumb. A certain over-baked production and arrangement feel permeates many of the fine songs from the band's ...

Dave Brubeck Brandenburg Gate: Revisited CD  (1963)

Horrible Truth About Burma album
CD $6.79
All tracks have been digitally remastered using 20-bit technology. Four of the five selections on Brandenburg Gate: Revisited (1963) are new interpretations of Dave Brubeck (piano) classics scored by the pianist's older sibling, Howard Brubeck, who is likewise the author of the "G Flat Theme," which is offered here for the first time. By the time of this 1963 platter, the perpetually touring Dave Brubeck Quartet had played behind a few of the North America's finest ensembles -- commencing with a personal invitation extended by Robert Shaw and the San Diego Symphony in 1956. In fact, these expanded arrangements were actually done live before they were recorded in the studio. ...
