In its time, Johnny Winter's LIVE was an enormously popular album, especially among high-school kids just starting to discover blues-rock in the early-'70s. Derived from live performances at the Fillmore East and at Pirate's World in Dania, FL, it is probably, in fairness, the best representation of Johnny Winter's sound from his prime years that one is likely to find. Considering that it was recorded along a tour promoting the JOHNNY WINTER AND album, one would expect that the band would have done a considerable number of tracks from that record, but none are represented here. The highlights are of considerable value, however, including a searing rendition of the Stones' "Jumpin' Jack Flash" sandwiched between some much older repertory ("Great Balls of Fire," "Long Tall Sally," "Johnny B. Goode").

| | Billy Joe Shaver Everybody's Brother CD (2007)
Live album
$13.65 A Billy Joe Shaver album is always cause for celebration, but on this 2007, Grammy-nominated release, the outlaw country troubadour shines in a whole new way. Produced by John Carter Cash, the album features all country-gospel originals, half of them sung in duet with a laundry list of country greats, including the late Johnny Cash, old partner in crime Kris Kristofferson, and Tanya Tucker. Although the Christian-themed lyrics are utterly sincere, fans needn't worry that Shaver ...

| | Trevor Thompson Talk To Me CD (2008)
Live album
$6.69 This cd became a tribute to my father. He passed this year (2007) in January when I was finishing it up. The song "Talk to me" wasn't meant to go on this cd. It was his favorite song so, it would be. “Talk to me” was actually recorded in Boston MA.in 1986 as a demo. There were some firsts on this cd. The biggest for me was the use and recording of live drums. I had never played drums before nor have had any experience recording them. All the drums with the exception of one were performed by yours truly.“Did you just come here? “ was performed by “Scotty” that's Eric scott Tuuri, my nephew. I also recorded live bass tracks another first for me.I also dedicated a new song recorded lastly “I’ll never say goodbye” was a simple to the point recording made in the style that he would have best remembered, live ...

| | Silverhawk Hangover Bicycle Ride CD (2008)
Live music CDs
$10.55 This is the long awaited new CD from the Portland, OR based band Silverhawk. Several years in the making, this collection of great Psych-Americana is heart felt, rocking and interesting at every turn. Brothers Sam and John Densmore’s songs are uniquely crafted, intelligent and truly musical at every turn. From start to finish. “Hangover Bicycle Ride” exemplifies everything that is good about contemporary music. This record pushes the boundaries while at the same time honors the classic rock and roll tradition. "...The long-running band led by the brothers Densmore, Sam and John, are Oregonian through and through, tracing roots to Coos Bay and beyond before a relocation to Portland a few years back. One might say they specialize in the feel-good, with songs with titles like "All the Girls Eat Drugs," and "Drinking Makes Me Feel Better," delivered with between-you-and-me grins." -Jeremy Peterson, OPB Music Blog and In-House Radio host"Part acoustic boogie, part bar-rock Beck, “Hangover Bicycle Ride” is 100 percent fun. The Densmore brothers have a knack for adding bells and whistles to their material in a way that’s natural rather than intrusive. The result, while crafted and perfected in the studio, still feels organic."- Barbara Mitchell, Portland Tribune"...the band does find that glorious balance of serious playfulness -- as on the brilliant power-pop anthem "Drinking Makes Me Feel Better" (which features an infectious lead vocal by Sam's wife, Laura) and the crunchy T. Rex-influenced "Cry, Cry". - The Oregonian - Bob Ham - Friday, May 09, 2008"These tracks sound great. I like the whole low fi analog digital vibe. Organic sounds that are chopped up. Yes!" ...
