British popster Leona Lewis became a superstar in the U.K. after winning on the TV program X Factor, releasing the chart-ruling hit single "Bleeding Love," and following up with a full-length debut that broke British sales records. That album, SPIRIT, hit America in the spring of 2008. The album is full of bubbly pop and R&B that might elicit comparisons with the music of Mariah Carey or Alicia Keys. Lewis received no shortage of help from industry heavy-hitters, including OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder (who co-wrote "Bleeding Love"), as well as songwriters Akon, Ne-Yo, Josh Alexander, Stargate, and others. The result is a full dose of radio-ready pop bliss that's sure to spark the interest of America's pop and R&B fans. Spirit Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Musical Critique The songs on this CD are somewhat similar in sound. The put you in a feel good, pretty day mood. Her voice is as clear as crystal. I enjoyed every song on the CD except for her remake of "The First Time Ever I saw Your Face" because I simply dislike the song - it has nothing to do with her voice. I do feel it's out of place on this CD. Overall, if you buy the CD, you should absolutely enjoy it. Looking forward to hearing more of her work in the future. AMAZING. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I listen to just about every cd that comes out...weekly. I'm about as up to date as anyone could be...and this album is amazing. There's only one song that I'm not "WOWED" by...(I'm You)...but it's amazing. "the first time ever i saw ur face" is my second fav song of all time..and she does it. i swear...she's amazing. her voice is flawless, her songs are great, and everything about her screams DIVA! I had the british version since it came out..months ago and I'm still not sick of it. Get it...I mean really...get it. You won't be disappointed...if there was a way to pay you back if you hate it..i'd do it. but there ain't...so just buy it! One of the best albums I've heard in years! Brit Leona what to say about her,she is a great vocalist but she needs song that reflects a little more about her identity, here is some superproducer stuff that for sure will be succesfull.Anyway she is british and she is got talent and i am sure she will find a way to make justice to her beautiful voice with better songs.Go Leo! Spirit music CDs
$9.59 Drummer Sherrie Maricle from the Diva Big Band takes four of her bandmates to form this all female quintet of mainstream jazz players. Karolina Strassmayer and Laura Dreyer both play alto sax and flute, Canadian pianist Lorraine Desmarais and Australian acoustic bassist Nicki Parrott help Maricle in the rhythm section. Though the woodwind players are quite lyrical, playing in unison most of the time, it's the sparkling bottom end tones and witty asides of Parrott and the exquisite pianistics of Desmarias that keep the music flowing. The bandmembers wrote none of the 13 selections, but there are homages to the Al Cohn-Zoot Sims tenor tandem, Frank Sinatra, many American popular songwriters, and contemporary jazzmen Jerry Bergonzi and John Scofield, with arrangements by John McNeil. At their best in uptempo hard swinging modes, Strassmayer and Dreyer frequently sound like twin Phil Woods bop towers, for instance the furious "I'll Get By," the outstanding Bergonzi written-up-and-gone title track, the Latin-ish "Scatterbrain," a luscious take on Kenny Dorham's easy swinging "Shifting Down," and the waltzy 6/8 version of the standard "Like Someone in Love." Two flutes appear on the sleepwalk slow "Someone Nice Like You." Alto and flute contrast on the bossa "How Insensitive" and a Sinatra medley ...

Spirit album
$11.59 Although Cyndi Lauper has released only three albums of new material since her 1980s heyday--1992's underrated HAT FULL OF STARS, 1997's SISTERS OF AVALON, and 2004's SHINE--she has never slowed down, maintaining a near-constant presence on the concert circuit. As her retro cohorts the B-52's, Donna Summer, and Madonna all release new albums that consciously look back to their earlier hits for inspiration, Cyndi Lauper went in the opposite direction for BRING YA TO THE BRINK, releasing an album entirely unlike anything else she has previously done. Recorded in collaboration with a number of hot dance producers and mixers, BRING YA TO THE BRINK is a tough, sexy collection of sleek electronic dance songs more in keeping with modern trends in club tunes than with those girls who just wanna have fun like they did back in 1984.
It's hard to see any real pattern in Cyndi Lauper's recording career, as she bounces from style to style, sometimes with her eye on the charts but more often following her own muse. Released in the summer of 2008, Bring Ya to the Brink is her first album of original material to be released in the U.S. since 1997's Sisters of Avalon, and she ...

The Bay Area rappers made there splash debut in 2008 and cranked out hit after hit While such success is amazing, Project Celebrities musical achievements outweigh the commercial achievements of the franchise.
