(3 Customer Reviews)
Before he became a renowned country artist, Dan Seals went by the name of England Dan and issued a string of albums with John Ford Coley. This collection presents 16 of the soft-rock duo's finest tunes, including the sensitive "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" and the emotive "Nights Are Forever Without You," making it a fine overview of the group's 1970s run.

Nights Are Forever Without You and I'd Really Love To See You Tonight brought back youthful memories of much simpler time. Submitted by fanceerider (Gallatin, TN , USA) Was This Review Helpful? So pleased with this CD I was so happy that songs i had not heard in a long time were on this CD Submitted by mtapan (Edmonton, Ab) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A definitive hits collection, with a couple album tracks This album seems like an homage to England Dan & John Ford Coley's first album, "Nights Are Forever". At least half of the songs on that album ended up on this one, although only "I'd Really Love To See You Tonight" and "Nights Are Forever" were true Top 40 hits. Regardless of this, it pretends to be a hits collection, which the rest of the CD is. I guess that concept, that this is a hits collection, is misleading, and when you think about it, this isn't just the hits. This is the cream of the crop of England Dan & John Ford Coley. Then you understand why half the "Nights Are Forever" album and a couple of other tracks ended up on the album. They showed the absolute best of the duo's sound, and this makes the album a good spring forward to collecting the individual albums, which are pretty good in their own rights. This is a great place to start, if you want to get into England Dan & John Ford Coley. Submitted by Galen (Anchorage, Alaska) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Very Best Of England Dan & John Ford Coley album
$6.29 For various legal reasons, no Ambrosia recordings were released on compact disc in America until 1997's Anthology, and while it's an imperfect collection, it does offer a reasonably thorough overview of the group's career. It only briefly touches on their early art rock records, choosing to concentrate instead on their early-'80s soft rock hits like "Biggest Part of Me," "You're the Only Woman," and "How Much I Feel." As a result, dedicated prog rock fans will find this collection inadequate, but for most casual listeners, it will contain everything they need and then some, since the disc is padded with three new songs that are pleasant. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Very Best Of England Dan & John Ford Coley album
$6.39 When Jon Anderson rejoined Yes after DRAMA, he was inserting himself into an unusual situation. Keyboardist Geoff Downes and longtime guitarist Steve Howe had left to form Asia with prog rock vets John Wetton (King Crimson, Roxy Music etc.) and Carl Palmer (ELP). Chris Squire and Alan White brought original Yes keysman Tony Kaye back and recruited vibrant young Australian guitarist/vocalist/composer Trevor Rabin. The quartet had already begun writing and recording, but Anderson was able to insert himself into the proceedings with such ease that the ...
