| | Hush Sound Goodbye Blues CD Hush Sound Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
The third album from the Chicago indie-rock outfit the Hush Sound refines the smart, melodic pop found on their first two releases. Distinguished by the piano playing and singing of Greta Salpeter, the Hush Sound draw influences from classic 1960s pop, the music hall tradition, `80s power pop, and contemporaries like Belle and Sebastian. GOODBYE BLUES also offers a poignancy in many of its best tunes ("Honey" and "Hurricane" are two examples), so in addition to being accessible and dreamy, the album is also moving at times. All this is packed into tunes that burst with impressive songcraft and memorable melodies.

Alternative Press (p.142) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "When Morris takes the mic on 'As You Cry,' the sound is just about as close as this band gets to straight-up rock 'n' roll. The album really hits its stride, though, on the bittersweet piano ballads 'Hurricane' and 'That's Okay'..." Blender (Magazine) (p.76) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "The surprise star is suddenly sultry 20-year-old vocalist-pianist Greta Salpeter....Salpeter raises the blood pressure and the competency of everything she touches..." Hush Sound Goodbye Blues Songs Goodbye Blues Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) an awesome cd. It would seem very hard to follow up their sophmore album "Like Vines", but The Hush Sound does much more than follow up. "Goodbye Blues" shows the band's progression into a more distinguished sound, and the album definitely shows improvements of greta's vocals. Though many say the album is not as good as its previous one, "Goodbye Blues" is the kind of album that continues to grow on you. It's a great cd, and I can't wait for the next one. An amazing band I think I like their previous records more. But one thing I can't deny is how much Greta's voice has evolved! I already liked her voice before and now it's so much better! Also she sings in more songs in this record than she did in the other ones. It is a good record. But not their best. Submitted by karencoimbra (Sao Paulo, BRA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
amazing. i didn't think that Goodbye Blues would be as good as Like Vines, but it is amazing as well! The Hush Sound sounds a tad bit different, but not for the worse. Great cd! Highly recommend! Submitted by Lindsey (Akron, OH) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

NOFX are masters of the punk ethic of self-deprecation, and it begs the question if they truly realize the mark they have made on the history of modern hardcore. After 18 years, the band that ...

Goodbye Blues CD music
$11.59 Not yet in their current lineup for two full years, the Hush Sound is remarkably already on album number two (as in full-lengths, not EPs). Though their debut, So Sudden, aptly laid the foundation for the band's melodic piano tinkering, it was still only recorded a month after their lineup solidified. Consequently, it comes as no real surprise that their sophomore effort, Like Vines, is a much more fully realized and mature sounding album. Issued through Decaydance/Fueled by Ramen, the album is a wonderful change of pace for emo-punk-saturated ears; the Hush Sound produces bouncy, fun, and sweetly melodic songs based around warm instrumentation and a playful delivery. Though initial spins may find tracks sounding slightly interchangeable amid all the exuberance, listeners are rewarded with the distinct personality each eventually claims. All members technically share vocal duties, but the focus mainly lies in the tradeoff between guitarist Bob Morris and pianist Greta Salpeter. Morris has a strong and controlled voice that steers each song effortlessly, while ...
| | Terry Turner Luckmaster Games CD (2006)
Goodbye Blues music CDs
$16.45 I'v known Terry since we were kids,so when he ask me to write his bio for his second cd, I was glad to. I remember aunt Mary saying Terry would be in some kind of show buiness one day,he was always showing off and making us laugh. I still have fond memories of aunt Rachel playing her silvertone and Terry's mother singing those old gospel songs. I think aunt Rachel and his mother had the first inspiration for him playing guitar he was always borrowing aunt Rachel's silvertone, she never complained she was such a sweet person. Anyway, to the first track[standing in line] a song saying how populated the usa has become. There is a message there. The second track[sad state] is about the things we see on the tv news, the things that our children are suffering because government state. The third track [mystic eye]is story about guitarist whose is amused about the story about going down to the crossroads to sell thier soul to the devil in order to play guitar. When all they had to do was ask GOD in faith and beleive and thier prayers would be answered without losing thier only soul. The forth track [mexico] is about the subject of the mexican border Terry wrote this song before Lou Dobbs began his report. The fifth track[deep water] is about how it can become when two people become emotionally involved. The sixth track[luckmaster] was inspired by Terry's grandson ...

| | David Mccabe Glory CD (2008)
Goodbye Blues album
$16.39 Fans of electric guitar music will find David McCabe’s second album thrilling. Its eight tracks are all instrumentals, with his trademark passionate solos over synthesisers and strings, and operatic backing vocals. Melodic and emotional, the tracks range from the soothing, through the stirring to the heart-rending. It’s a collection of tracks without any particular theme other than the sheer glory of the electric guitar — hence the title track 'Glory', an upbeat anthem to accompany any of life’s victories. The opening track 'Breaking Out' is about the frustration of being in a situation you need to get clear of. 'Flying High' was inspired whilst watching a buzzard circling high overhead in the Welsh mountains, and captures its grace and freedom. '21st Century Greensleeves' is an innovative re-working ...
| | Bucket Hunch Dancer CD (2008)
Goodbye Blues CD music
$18.99 Bucket is known for its often-goofy low-tech light shows at concerts, but there is nothing minimalist about the new CD, "Hunch Dancer." It's a rich collection of alt-twang and pop rock thanks to its three talented members - Lee Rolfes, Bam Powell and Bob Nyswonger. Bucket has been around for 10 years, founded as a songwriting vehicle for Harrison, Ohio native Lee Rolfes, now Nashville-based. Rolfes' bandmates have always been equal partners and they bring their songwriting and musical prowess to the new release as well. Yes, Powell shows up again displaying his great versatility, contributing some edgy, darker tunes to this project, much different than his Bluebirds sweet soul material. Powell, a Bucket member since day one, coined the band's name by literally playing a bucket as a drum with other home-spun percussion instruments. ...
