Born in 1959 in Ekaterinburg (Medium Ural), Andrey Vinogradov has studied and been exposed to a variety of musical genres, everything from classical jazz to jazz-rock. He has now settled down in folky niche, where he creates his classic but unique blend of sounds.He graduated with highest honors from the Moscow Gnessin Music College and completed his education at Gnessin Academy of Music. Later, as part of well-known Russian jazz-rock group The Arsenal, directed by revered saxophonist Alexei Kozlov, he recorded two LPs, The Second Wind and Pulse 3, which were later released on the CDs Time-scorched III and Time-scorched IV (1997-1998). After giving the opportunity to other dj's from the Wicked Jazz Sounds Collective to show their skills on the previous edition, head honcho Phil Horneman is back with a vengeance. On Wicked Jazz Sounds 6 he's joined by DJ Urvinson, a member of the collective since day one, now 6 years ago. For CD1 Urvinson has cherry picked a broad selection of the finest tracks around. Often hiphop orientated but there are many more flavors in his crates! Down tempo tracks like 'Attraction' from Brothers In Harmony -a track he produced with his brother Carlito- and German artist Joy Denalane are seamlessly mixed into the joyful jazz cover 'You Gotta Have Freedom from Boogaloo. After that Urvinson goes all out with the freaky, almost punk like jazz from Soil & "Pimp" Sessions. On CD2 Phil Horneman dazzles everyone with a extremely wicked choice of tracks by the likes of Jos?James, Seun Kuti (one can surely tell he is Fela Kuti's son) and some heavy drum'n'bass from Dutch producer Lenzman. His track 'Ever So Slightly' contains a sample of James Brown's 'Sunny?which was featured on the first Wicked Jazz Sounds comp. Phil's cd also contains a good deal of hiphop.
