3 stars Better than you may think
At first I didn't want to see this movie because I thought it would be like that awful Garfield movie that came out a few years ago,but I was a little impressed the Chipmunks.The music is very good and the special effects are great.The major flaw with this movie is that they got the guy from My Name Is Earl to play Dave.They could've got somebody better.

Very rarely does one come across a flick that apeals to everybody in our family - this film will become a staple for a video collection.

4 stars Great re-make!
So usually I hate remakes, expecially when it comes to the things I was brought up with as a child. I must say I was very impressed with this movie! I was a little worried about the voices & the acting.... but all of it was very good. Jason Lee did a good job as Dave & I loved all the trouble the chipmunks got into. I laughed out loud a few times! I thought even the storyline was appropriate & entertaining. Music was good also!! Even if you don't have children I think you would enjoy this movie. I'm sure most people have watched the chpmunks & would enjoy seeing yet another generation enjoy them too!

Australian director John Hillcoat first teamed up with singer Nick Cave on 1988's disturbing GHOSTS...OF THE CIVIL DEAD, for which Cave co-authored the screenplay and took a memorably brief acting role. The two reconvene for 2006's THE PROPOSITION, with Cave penning the screenplay and providing a soundtrack written with Dirty Three member Warren Ellis. Cave's 19th-century tale begins with the proposition of the title, as Captain Stanley (Ray Winstone) captures fugitive brothers Charley (Guy Pearce) and Mikey Burns (Richard Wilson) at a scene of bloody rape and murder. Informing Charley that he must kill his older brother, Arthur (Danny Huston), in order to be set free, Stanley drags Mikey to a decrepit jailhouse while he waits for Charley to carry out the deed. Hillcoat's Western reeks of the dry desert heat, with flies buzzing, temperatures soaring, and emotions spiraling out of control. As Charley reluctantly sets about his task, Hillcoat and cinematographer Benoît Delhomme create a mesmerizing vision of the Australian outback.
