| | Paul McCartney Good Evening New York City CDs (2009) With DVD; Digipak
Bring Me Your Love
$15.98 Unlike its 2002 predecessor Back in the U.S., Good Evening New York City doesn't cherrypick highlights from a tour, it commemorates a specific event: the inauguration of Citi Field -- the replacement for the now-defunct Shea Stadium, where the Beatles played a legendary show in 1965 -- in the summer of 2009. The circumstances may be different -- different enough to lead to a Billy Joel cameo on "I Saw Her Standing There," the piano man returning a favor from Paul, who played at Billy's Shea-closing shows in 2008 -- and McCartney might have two strong albums of new material to draw upon, but as an album, Good Evening New York City plays a lot like Back in the U.S. with a whopping 17 of its 35 tracks shared between the two titles. More importantly, the vibe is the same, with Macca delivering an expertly balanced and sequenced set with all the skill of the old pro that he is. Apart from the inclusion of "Mrs. Vanderbilt" and "I'm Down," there are no surprises, either in song selection ...

| | John Fogerty Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again CDs (2009) With DVD; Deluxe Edition
Bring Me Your Love
$14.29 John Fogerty released his first solo CD, an album of covers on which he played all the instruments, under the name the "Blue Ridge Rangers," and he revives that concept on 2009's THE BLUE RIDGE RANGERS RIDES AGAIN. Where the first smacked of the righteous zeal of a young purist, RIDES AGAIN is a lot looser in its attack, which is reflected in the way it splits the difference between country and rockabilly classics and reflective numbers from '70s songwriters. These unexpected covers ...
| | Rush Roll The Bones CD (1991) Remastered
Bring Me Your Love
$6.39 Many Rush fans were pleased to see the band return to a more straightforward approach with 1989's PRESTO, and break out of their "synthesizer rut" of the mid-to-late-'80s (after all, Rush had made a name for themselves with technically proficient hard rock). Cut from the same musical cloth is their follow-up, 1991's ROLL THE BONES, which was the second consecutive Rush release co-produced by the band and Rupert Hine. Easily their most rock-oriented album since 1984's GRACE UNDER PRESSURE, ROLL THE BONES contains several of Rush's best-known tunes from the '90s.
The title track is a natural extension of their 1989 single "Show Don't Tell," which ...
| | TV Neats & The Excerpts Hits After Hits CD (2006) (Import)
Bring Me Your Love
$32.85 Attention:In the deserted warehouse section of Lower New Haven there is a sparking-bright new quintet destined to dominate the international airwaves. Rehearsing diligently, TV Neats was first plotted then fabricated by Ricky Rondo, formerly the leader of Hot Bodies. Ricky spent the fall of 1980 producing some local demos, searching for the perfect combination of looks, vocals, and creativity. He approached guitarist and vocalist of the Ex-Cerpts, Michael Priggen and lead singer/keyboard player of The Kids, Ms. Robyn Ouiba to form TV Neats. Bassist Chipper Anderson, a former local musician was called ...

| | Less Than Jake Goodbye Blue & White CD (2002) With DVD
Bring Me Your Love
$11.65 GOODBYE BLUE & WHITE is a collection of rare recordings and compilation tracks.
In 2000, a Less Than Jake press release proudly noted that the band had 76 releases to its credit; presumably that number was accurate, for even hardcore fans had trouble keeping track of all the band's music. From the get-go, LTJ had peppered the scene with releases, appearing on dozens of compilations and unleashing singles with abandon -- so many of both that their second full-length, 1996's Losers, Kings, and Things We Don't Understand, bundled 20 such offerings onto one CD. That same year, LTJ signed to Capitol Records, but that didn't change their modus operandi, as they celebrated their good fortune by swiftly handing their next three singles to a trio of indie labels, while gleefully continuing to record a plethora of tracks for compilations. Which brings listeners to Goodbye Blue & White, an album originally released in 1999, and dedicated exclusively to the band's ever harder to locate vinyl excursions. It's a wild ride, one that cries out for annotation or at least release dates, but neither are provided, shoving younger fans straight onto the roller-coaster ride that careens wildly ...
| | Snoop Dogg Ego Trippin CD (2008)
Bring Me Your Love
$12.99 On album number nine, Snoop branches out a bit, assuming executive producer credits and working as one-third of the production team QDT (along with Teddy Riley and DJ Quik). While the production hovers around 1970s R&B, soul, and smoothed-out funk (with conspicuous samples from Marvin Gaye, the Isleys, Brooklyn Dreams, and Prince Phillip Mitchell), there are also a few curious excursions into '80s synth-pop ("Cool") and even country music ("My Medicine"). At the same time, Snoop's lyrics are all over the place. Over the course of the album's 21 tracks, he goes from mega-boasting on his fame and wealth ("Gangsta Like Me," "Staxx in my Jeans") to celebrity name-dropping ("Deez Hollywood Nights") to seductive talk-box crooning ("Sexual Eruption") and groupie-love anthems ("Life of da Party," "Those Gurlz") to bittersweet reminiscing on his rise from the hood ("Can't Say Goodbye") and dedications to his wife and kids ("Been Around tha World"). As the title suggests, EGO TRIPPIN' is all about Mr. Calvin Broadus, and therefore the outing contains just a handful of guest spots from Too Short, Raphael Saadiq, Mistah F.A.B., and Charlie Wilson.
