4 Decadas De Exitos
$14.49 Lyrics translated from the Spanish by Guillermo Hernandaz, Yolanda Zepeda and Jaime Nicolopulos.
Following on from his father Santiago Jimenez' own successful run as a conjunto musician in San Antonio, Flaco Jimenez put together a conjunto of his own in the '50s, eventually becoming one of the most famous figures in Tex-Mex music (also known as Musica Nortena in Mexico). Based on the polkas and waltzes Mexican performers refashioned as rancheras, the Tex-Mex conjunto style features accordion, the 12-string bajo sexto guitar, bass, and drums. Flaco immediately staked his claim in the music with a distinctly imaginative and lively accordion style, finding the ideal backing from equally able Tejano musicians, including his father and his son David. For this excellent 1985 recording, Flaco teams up with ...

4 Decadas De Exitos
$14.29 Since most (though not all) of these 21 conjunto tracks were previously issued on Arhoolie CDs and LPs, this has the dual purpose of serving as a sampler of Arhoolie's conjunto catalog and -- because Arhoolie has been one of the most active labels in documenting conjunto -- a good overview of conjunto music itself. As the title lets you know, the accordion figures prominently in all of the selections, which includes some well-known legends of the genre (Narciso Martinez, Flaco Jimenez, Santiago Jimenez, Santiago Jiminez Jr., Esteban "Steve" Jordan) and several performers who'll be known only to conjunto aficionados. Because this spans several decades of recordings, and draws from numerous ...

| | Motley Crue Shout At The Devil CD (1983) (Import) Japan; Mini LP Sleeve
4 Decadas De Exitos
$39.49 Principally recorded at Cherokee Studios, Hollywood, California. Includes interviews conducted by Alan K. Stout.
Whereas Motley Crue's 1981 debut TOO FAST FOR LOVE was glam rock-based (both musically and visually), 1983's now-classic sophomore effort, SHOUT AT THE DEVIL, had more in common with heavy metal. The album served as The Crue's commercial breakthrough, going double-platinum shortly after it's release (and eventually reaching quadruple-platinum status) and spawning several popular MTV videos. Motley Crue toured behind SHOUT as an opener for Ozzy Osbourne, and the success of the album also helped open the floodgates for the L.A. metal scene.
SHOUT AT THE DEVIL is undoubtedly Motley Crue's all-time best. The set includes anthems galore (the title track, "Looks That Kill," and the melodic "Too Young to Fall in Love"), lesser-known tales of sex, violence, and sin ("Bastard," ...
