| | Susan's Room Thicker CD (1999)
Solid Sounds 2008 1
$11.39 Susan's Room was a mess. After releasing and promoting their second album "Lion In The Living Room", the band took a break while Susan Anders (nee Streitwieser) wrote and stockpiled songs. When it came time to record, Susan and producer/ guitarist/ husband Tom Manche realized that they had over two dozen songs. Susan and Tom sorted the songs into two piles: ones that would work for a stripped down project modeled after Joni Mitchell's "Blue", and songs for a more eclecticly produced project. Thicker and Thinner were born. On both albums, Susan's dark, brainy lyrics abound. Who else would write a song about Custer's last thoughts before death? Or a gut-wreching tale of a suicidal mother? "Custer" and "Thank You Mom" found their home on Thinner along with other songs of love lost and found, all set off by the spare production. On Thicker, more left-of center themes appear. An obsession with Perry Mason, a vengeance-minded trespasser, and a woman driven crazy by the voice inside her head appear in "Perry Mason", "Trouble Now" and "Hammerhead", respectively. These and other songs range stylistically from weird post-modern to straight-up rock to jazzy folk. Though a broad production mix, Thicker is held together by the songwriting ...

| | Through A Glass Tragedy vs. Comedy CD (2008)
Solid Sounds 2008 1
$8.55 Ironically enough, tragedy and comedy are common threads running through the story of Through A Glass.Beginning as a six-piece band in 2005, Through A Glass had a grass roots beginning, playing at local schools, clubs, and churches. Now the band is what many would call “on the verge” as they progress at a rapid pace. The band was in the midst of recording their first full-length project in the summer of 2006 when singer/keyboard player, 16 year-old Nathan Johnson was killed in a car accident. This tragedy sparked a fire in the lives and music of the band and they released the record in his memory, titled “Called Out: A Tribute”, in November of 2006. From there, the band began to ride a wave of open doors, as the tide began to change. The band took time to recollect, heal, and then began to write music and play again. The remaining five members have certainly grown into their sound and have developed a truly original presentation. Front man Jeremiah Barnes, who draws comparisons to Jeff Buckley and Gerard Way, leads the pack with an impressively consistent voice that boasts of purity and strength. Big Red, the bands powerhouse background vocalist and rhythm guitarists certainly stands out in personality and talent. The band’s rhythm section proves to be the steady and consistent driving force as drummer, Jeremy Brown, and bassist, Tyler Ricker allow the band to blend classic feels with modern pop/rock. Philip Revell, the bands left handed lead guitarist, brings about original riffs and eclectic style that allows ...

| | Genevieve Jereb Cool Bananas CD (2008)
Solid Sounds 2008 1
$18.95 Genevieve Jereb, OTR, is an Australian-born pediatric occupational therapist who has lectured on sensory processing disorders, both nationally and internationally. Most recognized as a childrens’ singer and songwriter, Genevieve uses the principles of sensory processing theory to create music, songs and rhythmic activities for children with attention, motor and regulation difficulties.Favorite Kids\' Rhythms for Calming, Cool Downs and Bedtime RoutinesCool Bananas was created to provide children with a selection of strong, regulated rhythms to support a state of calm, organization and regulation in their nervous systems. Enchanting favorite childrens\' songs sung at 50 to 70 beats per minute support the dysregulated child as background music during therapy, classroom and home activities (e.g., table top time, play time, bath time, car rides).Don Campbell, in his book, Rhythms of Learning, discusses the importance of using rhythms of 50 to 70 beats per minute: “The pulse in these slow movements is similar to the rhythm of the human heartbeat and has been found to slow body functions...” Soothing rhythms, songs and meditative sounds are also included on this CD to support bedtime routines, cool downs and quieter therapies. The physical CD includes a 8-page full color booklet with more info about the science behind these calming songs.“These songs support the disregulated child during playtime, bath time, car rides, quieter therapies, and bedtime. No actions accompany these songs. Because these songs are sung at a slower tempo, children with speech difficulties will find these songs easier to sing along with. Ms. Jereb has done another wonderful job here singing and orchestrating these perennial ...
