Invisible Baby album
$14.38 Orchestral and choral arrangements of rock songs have been a curious subgenre ever since the mid-'60s when Andrew Loog Oldham arranged The Rolling Stones Songbook for syrupy strings, but The Kinks Choral Collection stands apart from the pack for the simple reason that it's not the project of some associate or admirer, but rather chief Kink Ray Davies. His very presence as arranger and lead vocal means The Kinks Choral Collection isn't nearly as stuffy and middlebrow as so many of these orchestral rock albums; he manages to inject some semblance of rock & roll by pushing the songs forward with guitar, and letting the rhythms swing instead of plod. This looseness is the first big surprise of the album. The second is its unrepentant but quite possibly accidental silliness, how many of the major guitar riffs are transposed for choir, an audacious idea in concept that's simply goofy in practice. These choral chants hamper the ...

Invisible Baby songs
$6.25 Dave Brubeck's TIME OUT ranks alongside Miles Davis' KIND OF BLUE as one of the few advanced jazz masterpieces to achieve great commercial success. In fact, the widespread popularity of TIME OUT, with its cool-toned ambience, smooth style, and elements borrowed from classical music, helped make modern jazz a mainstream phenomenon.
The ubiquitous "Take Five" may be overplayed, but that doesn't diminish the joy of its complex melodic hooks, its perfectly ...
| | Very Best Of Bert Kaempfert CD (1995)
Invisible Baby album
$13.69 Recorded between 1960 and 1967. Includes liner notes by Steve Kolanjian.
Digitally remastered by Eliot Goshman (1995, Taragon Studios, Deer Park, New York).
Beginning with Louis Armstrong, through Harry James and Bobby Hackett of the Jackie Gleason Orchestra, the trumpet was once a king in pop music. This was true even in '60s-era easy listening, as demonstrated by the success of Al Hirt, Herb Alpert, and the ultra-shrewd German musician Bert Kaempfert, who probably was as responsible as anyone else in rehabilitating Germany's post-war world image. The Taragon label is re-releasing all of Kaempfert's many albums in an ambitious reissue project. This excellent compilation is the one to have however.
As well as being a successful composer ("Strangers in the Night," "Spanish Eyes," "Danke Schon," "L.O.V.E" are all his compositions), Kaempfert was an even better producer, superior even to Herb Alpert in that he didn't rely as much ...

| | Oldscool Save Me From Myself CD (2008)
Invisible Baby music CDs
$16.45 OldScool is a retro, rock and roll band and recording project consisting of various Delaware-area musicians, headed by singer-songwriter, Lionel de Bernard. Nashville's renegade, Indie Label, Wild Oats Records, has released the latest OldScool CD, titled, "Save Me From Myself." Their music has impressed many listeners, longing for the old school days of rock and roll. Yet, OldScool manages to retain a very contemporary sound, incorporating many different musical elements, including ska, retro-rock, surf, reggae, jazz, and, anything else available on their palate to forge a new genre. For the OldScool, "Save Me From Myself" CD, Lionel de Bernard, songwriter and lead vocalist, set out to record his timeless compositions through a shared, old school, roots-rock experience. Lionel says, " I was hoping to create a concept, studio album with songs reminiscent of the sound from the early days of rock and roll, but with a more contemporary flavor, adding several uniquely blended ska, rock, reggae and jazz elements to the music. Destiny enabled me to connect with players who have played or are currently playing with some notable bands, such as Chubby Checker, The Allman Brothers and others."Lionel de Bernard will be trying to secure publishing contracts by submitting OldScool songs for possible placement on TV, Film and Commercial venues. Lionel is counting on the strong melody emphasis and the straightforward, hypnotic rhythms and uniqueness in style of OldScool's "Save Me From Myself" CD to capture the attention of prospective publishers. OldScool's music is ideally suited for film and television music projects.Instrumentation"Save Me From Myself" Wild Oats Records CD line up:Lionel de Bernard, Vocals, rhythm guitar.Joey Fulkerson, (Chubby Checker) Lead guitar, rhythm guitar and classical guitar, backing vocals.Johnny Neel, (The Allman Bros.) keyboards on "Albatross" and "Message In A Bottle."Bob Kerly, Upright and electric bass guitar.Kathy Burkly, Drums.Mike Naumann, percussion.John Heinrich, saxaphone on "Save Me From Myself."Steve Haggard, producer, Wild Oats Records, Nashville.Randall Merriman, engineer.CHARTER MEMBER OLDSCOOLERS ON CALL:Brad Fish, Billy Meyers, Jr., drumsDave Worthington, percussionKenny Glanden, percussion/drums, etc.DiscographyLionel de Bernard has recorded with several musicians who have toured and played with some ...
