Justice album
$15.15 Shakira's brand new English album She Wolf is an uptempo pop album. It is all about synthesizers and electronic concepts, all mixed with the world sounds that we are used to from Shakira.. sounds from countries like India, the Middle East and her home country of Colombia. She Wolf features a predominantly English track list with a follow up album of new and unique repertoire in Spanish to come in 2010. The title track "She-Wolf " boasts the infectious and energizing sound that made Shakira a household name, with a slightly more dancey/ electronic beat (about 125 beats per minute). Though most tracks on the upcoming album will be in English, Shakira chose to service the Spanish version of the first single, "Loba", two weeks before the English single is launched.
Last time around, Shakira touched upon so many styles she couldn't be contained on one album, splitting Oral Fixation in two. This time, she focuses on one sound only: a pulsating electro-disco that crosses all boundaries and welcomes all nationalities. Such concentration behooves Shakira, freeing her to release her inner She Wolf, a wild wacko who's as coo coo as she is carnal. And for as sexy as Shakira is -- crucially, her music is sexy too -- what really gives She Wolf its bite is her inspired nuttiness, how she laments that Matt Damon's not meant for her, and wishes her ex-lover and his new girl a horrible vacation where the room smells and the toilet doesn't flush. "Darling, it is no joke, this is lycanthropy," she sings on the title track with no small trace of humor, and this blend of cheerful weirdness and sick beats -- often ...
| | Little Boots Hands CD (2009)
Justice CD music
$18.05 Little Boots, aka 24 year-old Blackpool native Victoria Hesketh), is proud to announce the release of her debut album. What started as a bit of fun (recording 'funtimes' covers in her pajamas) eventually led to homepage exposure on YouTube, racking up more than 250,000 views overnight. Claiming Little Boots as her moniker (the Latin name Caligula translates as "Little Boot"), Victoria eventually released her limited edition 7" single 'Meddle' to rapturous applause from every corner of the UK press. The white label Moroder-inspired 'Stuck on Repeat' and various remixes started popping up everywhere, making her one of the "most blogged about artists". In November '08, Jools Holland's producer took a chance booking a virtual unknown for what would become one of the most intriguing performances of the year. The only female to perform on the night (alongside heavyweights Al Green, The Killers & Damon Albarn), Victoria wowed the audience with her effortless skill: singing, playing three ins
A good year on from catching ears and sparking potentially damaging levels of next-big-thing hype with her first single, "Stuck on Repeat" -- a sleek, buzzy, self-fulfilling prophecy of "metaphor pop" with obvious debts to Kylie Minogue and Giorgio Moroder, and a writing/production assist from Hot Chip's Joe Goddard -- Little Boots (aka U.K. popstress ...
| | Mum Finally We Are No One CD (2002)
Justice music CDs
$12.25 Múm's first album for Fat Cat -- by no coincidence, the label that also broke fellow Icelanders Sigur Rós -- has all the majestic synths, crackly drum machine percussion, sampled silence, and crystalline vocals you'd expect from the country that produced Björk and Sigur Rós, though with less focus on digital sound than the former and less reliance on drama than the latter. Múm is very interested in the music of sound, but Finally We Are No One never sounds like a difficult record; if it's not the instruments sounding naïve or folksy (in good ways), the lisping, childlike vocals are bound to prompt adjectives like adorable and precious. "Green Grass of Tunnel" has the sweet melancholia, coloring-book hip-hop, and slowly shifting chords of poptronica producers like isan or Boards of Canada, and also trades on the wide-eyed fairy-tale qualities of Björk. Apart from the hefty title, "Don't Be Afraid, You Have Just Got Your Eyes Closed" approaches mainstream appeal -- briefly, and at several different times -- with a nice dance beat gradually replaced by a beatbox breakdown, toy xylophone, and a nice trumpet melody. Several individual passages of songs strike an evocative chord, like the string quartet, piano, warm synthesizers, and percussion rumblings of "K/Half ...
| | Donna Summer Four Seasons Of Love CD (1976)
Justice songs
$8.49 Although there's nothing on 1976's FOUR SEASONS OF LOVE that approaches the commercial heights of 1975's "Love to Love You Baby"--a legendary 12-inch single that single-handedly invented the entire concept of the extended remix--the album is nonetheless a remarkable achievement. Written and produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Belotte, the four lengthy tracks--plus a brief reprise of the opening "Spring Melody"--chart the course of a love affair over four seasons. ...
| | Santogold CD (2008)
Justice album
$11.99 While buzz built furiously around Santogold's 2008 debut, writers longing to seem in-the-know could not resist comparing the New York City based singer-songwriter to M.I.A. The appraisal proved both blessing and curse; at the time, the Sri Lankan wunderkind was indie-fan gold and any connection could not hurt exposure, but it also opened her to the inevitable (and grossly unfair) accusations of being a carbon copy. The two do share a producer, have frequently performed together, and on many tracks like the frenetic "Shove It" and the swirlingly hypnotic "Creator," the similarity is undeniable.
However, the mass of SANTOGOLD owes more to the reggae, no wave, punk, and synth pop coming out as the NYC of the '70s crashed into the '80s. On opening track and debut single "L.E.S. Artistes," Santogold channels Dale Bozzio over whirling, confectionary, nostalgic pop reminiscent of Missing Persons, while on the sinister "My Superman," she summons up shadows of Siouxsie Sioux. While her music owes to many ...

| | Bluebook Divided Minds CD (2006) (Import)
Justice album
$11.99 Bluebook are a live electronica crossover act born from a studio partnerhip between Matt Pelling, Andre Touhey and Paul Willard. Helped in no small way by the excellent vocals of Jo Brown and Scott Hendry, and utilising many independent musicians in the recording of their two studio Albums.Divided Minds, their second album has now been mastered and the band are starting rehearsals soon for the live show - 2006 is seen as an important year for the crossover of the band from studio to stage, and an exciting time to get to know Bluebook. Bluebook was originally formed in 1998, by Matt, Andre and Paul Willard in a small cold flat in Polegate, East Sussex. The trio shared a passion for electronic music that could be pulled off in a live context as they were all musicians used to playing out and didnt want the great opportunities of technology to limit the possibilities of live performance. They worked with several musicans such as Phil Flack(drums), Vikki van Heerden (vocals) and other assorted guitarists and djs until they finished the first Bluebook studio album which remains unreleased and largely un-heard, although one track 'Rolling Over' was signed by Industry Records and subsequently remixed by Calibre and played numerous times on Radio 1. After several great live shows supporting the likes of Transglobal Underground and Skint Records (Brighton), the band split from the other members of the live act, and the trio went back to the studio. Several years later after completing several library albums of Drum and bass and Trip Hop tunes for LIbrary ...
