Little Fugitive: When a 7-year-old boy (Richie Andrusco) is tricked into believing he killed his older brother, he gathers his meager possessions and flees to New York's nether wonderland: Coney Island. Weddings and Babies: A follow-up to Little Fugitive, this film is the enchanting tale of a 7-year-old girl's reaction to her mom's new boyfriend. Lovers and Lollipops Viveca Lindfors stars as Bea, a Swedish-born woman who yearns to begin a family with her photographer boyfriend Al. But the 2 things to which Al has devoted his career - weddings and babies - are the very things he cannot make room for in his life. LITTLE FUGITIVE: When a seven-year-old Brooklyn boy's older brother tricks him into thinking the tyke has killed him, the youngster takes what money he can find and hightails it to Coney Island. While his brother searches for him, the scared runaway encounters all manner of adventures among the summer throngs. A pioneering independent dramedy from writer-producer-director Morris Engel, LITTLE FUGITIVE won the Silver Lion Award at the 1953 Venice Film Festival. Academy Award Nominations: Best Motion Picture Story.
LOVERS AND LOLLIPOPS: Jealous and frightened that her mother has begun spending time with a new boyfriend, a seven-year-old girl does all she can to disrupt the budding romance in this nostalgia-tinged independent film. The mother's new beau tries his best to win the girl over, while the mother is torn between pleasing her daughter at all costs and struggling to live her own life as well. An ultimately satisfying relationship dramedy highlighted by on-location footage of such New York landmarks as the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and the Bronx Zoo.
WEDDINGS AND BABIES: In this independent drama shot on location in New York City, a 30-year-old woman, frustrated by her photographer boyfriend's reluctance to propose marriage, finally decides to give up on the relationship. Frightened at the prospect of losing the woman he loves, the put-upon bachelor relents and offers her an engagement ring, only to have a string of mishaps cause him to question everything in his life. $9.79 RENEGADE is an ambitious hybrid of genres that occupies a liminal space similar to that of its main character, Mike Blueberry (Vincent Cassel). Building on the conventions of the Western and adding psychedelic elements and the sophisticated - albeit atypical - European sensibilities of director Jan Kounen, the result is a fascinating and compelling existential film about self-definition and the untapped regions of the mind.
The film opens with a teenage Blueberry (Hugh O'Conor), a recent transplant to the southwest from the Cajun territory of Louisiana. He quickly becomes embroiled in a battle with local bad guy Wallace Sebastian Blount (Michael Madsen) when Blount gets violent during a visit to prostitute Madeleine, for whom Mike has fallen. Madeleine is killed in the fray, and the injured Mike is run out of town, surviving due only to the kindness of the Indians who find him and take him in. Years ...
