Pyramids album
$10.59 While it took Mission of Burma more than two decades to follow up its 1982 debut with 2004's ONOFFON, the Boston-based post-punk act needed only two years to create their third full-length outing, THE OBLITERATI. As on its predecessor, this '06 album rumbles along with both heft and speed, and shows a band remarkably hitting its stride more than 20 years into its career. Core members Roger Miller (guitar/vocals), Clint Conley (bass/vocals), and Peter Prescott (drums/vocals) ...
| | Skullflower Tribulation CD (2006)
Pyramids CD music
$12.95 Looking for tender melodies and sweet symphonic arrangements? Well, you've come to the wrong place. If you thought Lou Reed's white noise orgy, Metal Machine Music, was a tad too extreme and hard to take, wait 'til you get a load of Skullflower's 2006 offering, ...
| | Jesu Conqueror CD (2007)
Pyramids music CDs
$11.75 On CONQUEROR, his second full-length album under the guise of Jesu, former Godflesh singer/guitarist Justin Broadrick builds on the shoegazer leanings of the SILVER EP, resulting in a hypnotic set of strikingly heavy indie rock. Featuring spare rhythms and buried vocals, ...
| | Explosions In The Sky All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone CD (2007)
Pyramids songs
$12.19 Back in the mid 1990s, when post-rock dominated the indie landscape, instrumental bands offered a sonic vision beyond what they saw to be the tired rock clichés of 4/4 time and G-C-D riffs, but very often negated the simple energy that makes rock so vital in the process. On their second full-length ALL ...
| | Baroness Red Album CD (2007)
Pyramids album
$11.49 Relapse Records' Baroness sound like a band that's been together much longer than their four years. Their debut full-length, THE RED ALBUM, displays a veteran band's sense of adventure and sophistication while retaining a young band's power and energy. Similar in spirit to (fellow Georgians) Mastodon, ...
| | Dead C Secret Earth CD (2008) Extended Play
Pyramids CD music
$8.39 The latest album by 20-year New Zealand noise vets Dead C consists of four tracks that are expectedly lengthy but still thrive on minimalist dynamics. Opener "Mansions" is actually a relatively beefy production, with Bruce Russell's punishing bass drone and Michael Morley's ominous vocals high up in the mix. But as if to play games with listeners' ear drums, the ...
| | Brecker Brothers Straphangin CD (1980)
Pyramids music CDs
$25.59 STRAPHANGIN' is a 1980 release by smooth jazz instrumentalists the Brecker Brothers.
The early '80s were a confusing time for many a jazz musician. The temptation to dabble in such waters as disco, funk, and rock was a risky proposition: pull it off and you were a genius, fail and you were the laughing stock of the industry. Falling somewhere in the large grey area between those two poles, the Brecker Brothers started the decade with Straphangin', a seven-song excursion into all sorts of fusion and AOR-like territories. No doubt taking sonic cues from Spyro Gyra and Steely Dan, the guys open the album with the mellow title track and the equally suggestive ...

$22.85 IRON CROSS – HistoryIroncross was formed in 1976 in Turku, Finland.Founding members were Esa "Gona" Leinonen (drums andvocals), Kimmo Vanne (guitars), Pekka "Body" Nummela(guitars) and Tero Ovaska (bass). The band began withcover songs but soon they started to compose amaterial of their own which was mainly written byGona. At some point Tero Ovaska left the group andPekka "Body" Nummela started playing bass. The newsecond guitarist for Ironcross was Jari "Mizz"Lundqvist. Tero Ovaska later resurfaced with bands TheFabrics and Pepe Le Moko. Ironcross made a couple ofdemos and they were signed by a little record companycalled Master/Turun kasettituotanto. The first Ironcross single "Let's Get Down toBusiness/Harder Than Stone" was released in the earlyautumn of 1982 and the band started making their firstlp "Bloodhounds". Before the recording of "Bloodhounds" took placeIroncross added ex-Noitawaimo skinsman Esko "Eddy"Mänty-Sorvari into the line-up. After "Bloodhounds"was recorded the band also recruited the keyboardplayer Kari "Case" Laihonen into fold.In the early 1983 Ironcross parted ways with KimmoVanne and he was replaced by Peter Bredbacka. Vannesadly passed away later. The new line up went torecord a song called "Dealer" into the compilationalbum "Uusi Musa". Bredbacka wasn't a long time memberin Ironcross and soon Ari "Steeler" Suomi took hisduties.Ironcross had a new record deal with Finnlevy/Warnerwhich was one of the biggest record companies inFinland. Single "Get Down'N'Get Away/Not Good For YourHealth" was released in the spring 1984 and album"Steel Warrior" followed in summer. Ironcross did somegigs but nothing happened. The album didn't sellenough and as a result the band was shown the door inFinnlevy. In the spring 1985 Ironcross split up withthe drummer Eddy. He has later played and recordedwith bands called Skädäm and The Sharonees. In 2006Eddy and his band Cold Sweat released a tribute albumfor Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy. Mänty-Sorvari alsoappears in Hanoi Rocks' Another Hostile Takeover albumhandling drums in Lynott cover Dear Miss LonelyHearts. In the mid 80's big hair and make up bands started tohappen in Los Angeles and Ironcross realised that aswell. They had a new drummer Jari Mäkeläinen and alsostarted to create "an image" (read "to look like Rattor Mötley Crue but Finnish..."). Before that they hadbeen an usual NWOBHM-inspired "leather jackets andjeans"-band. The EMI Finland signed the band and in July 1986 theywent to record a new album "Too Hot To Rock".Ironcross released a single "Too Hot To Rock/ParadiseOf Stars" in September and they even appeared inFinnish TV performing the title track. In February 1987 Ironcross appeared again intelevision. This time in Finnish National TV (YLE),with the track "Fight For The Strangers". Theannouncement party of "Too Hot To Rock" in CafeMetropol, Helsinki was pompous; Rolls Royce, topmodels... Each member of Ironcross even had bigcrosses of iron done of precious metals and jewels. But again... Despite ...
