| | U2 No Line On The Horizon CD (2009)
4 O'Clock songs
$10.49 There's no shortage of legendary producers in line to work with music world titans U2; when work with Rick Rubin broke off, Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois stepped in. The resulting NO LINE ON THE HORIZON, 2009's offering from the Irish rockers, continues in the grand U2 tradition, as soaring pop anthems like opening single "Get on Your Boots" pair with experimental melanges like "Tripoli," on a striking album featuring touches of all the albums come before, yet hinting at new worlds for Bono to conquer.
After spending the 1990s experimenting with electronic music and returning to arena-ready rock during the first few years of the 21st century, U2 stakes out territory somewhere between those two points on 2009's NO LINE ON THE HORIZON. Enlisting its go-to production trio of Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, and Steve Lillywhite, the Irish quartet seems intent on crafting a quirkier companion piece to HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB, and they succeed with restless tracks such as "Get on Your Boots," which sounds like "Vertigo" hijacked by T. Rex, and "Stand Up Comedy," a wiry number that lets the Edge cut loose with barbed guitar lines. Some of most striking songs on HORIZON are the ones that venture farthest from U2's comfort zone, as on the surprisingly weighty title track, ...

| | John Denver Rocky Mountain Christmas CD (1975)
4 O'Clock CD music
$6.09 This 1998 reissue contains 5 bonus tracks (including the previously
unreleased "White Christmas") not included on the original release.
John Denver's music always had a warm, home-spun quality to it, so it isn't surprising that his 1975 holiday effort, Rocky Mountain Christmas, is a wonderfully low-key and friendly Christmas album. Divided between classic carols and new numbers, such as the fine "Aspenglow" and "Christmas for Cowboys," the album is an appealing, pretty record, perfect for late nights ...

| | Katharsis World Without End CD (2006)
4 O'Clock songs
$11.09 Like all the bands on the French Norva Evangelicum Diaboli label (distributed in the U.S. by Southern Lord), Katharsis are from Europe and sound like it, full of progressive elements -- no, not prog rock. Unlike the other bands on this label -- Deathspell Omega, Funeral Mist, Antaeus -- Katharsis are a squalling, in-your-face furious black metal band whose insane, hyperspeed riffing and drumming all blur together under freaked-out angular guitar leads and a vocalist who can do the growl with the best of them, but who also shrieks, howls, wails, screams, and spits out his lyrics underneath sonic effects. The guitars buzz rather than howl, like a military assault on the senses. There is plenty of ...

4 O'Clock music CDs
$16.39 We have performed together the music of our English and Scottish homelands for more than thirty years. Many of our performances on both coasts of North America, in Canada, and in Britain have featured sea shanties and forbitters. Over the years we have sold many of our sea music recordings, now on the two CDs Deepwater Shanties and Deepwater Songs. Often fans have complained that too many of the songs we sing are not on our recordings. After considerable prodding we returned to the studio to record seventeen of those songs on Deepwater Return. Thanks to our buddy, Ron Goldberg who helped us make a “pre CD” to convince us that we could still do it. Then Neil J. Young once again acted as co-producer, recording engineer, and great friend throughout. We benefited so much from the support and wisdom provided by Lewis Santer, who reviewed early cuts and steered us in the right direction. The following supporting musicians added so much:Ray Bierl: - Great singer, guitar player, fiddle player, and friend-who ...
