Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) 5 stars

4 stars Must Have
First off,let me say that the song list menu on the dvd does match the song list on the dvd case. The case has the correct listing of 1.Roy's Bluz,2.Soul Dressing,3.Sweet Dreams,4.Hey Joe,5.The Messiah where as the menu lists,1.Woman You Must Be Crazy, (which is a line from Roy's Bluz), 2.Roy's Bluz. That's a minor issue since the songs listed on the case are the songs that you get,but for a dvd that only has five songs that seems pretty careless. As for the important parts of this dvd,the sound and picture quality,I only have one complaint,(and my reason for not giving this 5 stars). There are a few too many shots of Roy from the back, especialy and unforgivably during the solo of Hey Joe.But hey, that was the directors fault 32 years ago. Other than that, this is a superb, albeit short(32min), example of the immense talent of Roy Buchanon. In these five songs you get a taste of the many sides of his playing. From mellow to jazzy, from blues to country and to an all out frenzy of notes,(sometimes all in the same song). All of his amazing techniques are on display here. From his bends to his swells to his false harmonics and other unique picking styles. If your a fan already or if you're just discovering Roy,buy this dvd,you won't be sorry. As to the claim in the liner notes that this may be the best high- quality audio/video of his complete performance known to exist I beg to differ. That may be true of this particular show in Austin, but he was also recorded professionaly for the German tv show Rockpalast. That performance is about 20 minutes longer than the Austin show and was filmed in 1985 I believe.Seeing what a good job Eagle Vision did compiling the 3 dvd set of Rory Gallagher's Rockpalast performances, maybe someday they'll release Roy's show as well. And while we're at it maybe some one will release the 1971 PBS special that first brought Roy to the attention of the public outside of the DC area, here's hoping.

I remember Roy from the 70s. Several of us had his 8 tracks. Great player. This DVD proves his metal from years ago..

5 stars Must Have Roy!
I saw this when originally aired on ACL. For years had waited, and waited.. then somebody had a brainstorm to put this lost classic out on dvd! Cranked up the ol' 5.1 amp then slipped into the best 32 minutes of life! Won't share this with some friends, because their only comment would be something along the lines.. "Clapton's better!" What do they know? These friends are the types who run around life clueless! What they don't know won't hurt them right? Pick up Stevie Ray Vaughn's Live at ACL too!

This is an awesome video! He truly played from the heart, and was one of a kind. Amazing guitar work and a tight backup band.

Roy Buchanan - Live From Austin TX DVD Features

At first he was called "the greatest unknown guitarist in the world," but within a few years ROLLING STONE magazine declared him "one of the three greatest living guitarists." Sadly, the life and extraordinary talents of Roy Buchanan were cut short at the all-too-young age of 48, when a career marked by frustration, disappointment and alcohol abuse ended in tragedy when he apparently took his own life in 1988.
This performance, captured on the ACL stage in 1976, shows Roy Buchanan in his prime at the age of 37. Indeed, it may well be the best high-quality audio/video recording of his complete performance know to exist.
One of the pioneers of the telecaster sound, he was noted for his use of note bending, volume swells, staccato runs and "pinch" harmonics. He is considered by many to be one of America's most soulful guitar masters, and even 20 years after his death, he maintains an army of devoted fans, including some of rock guitar's greatest (just ask Jeff Beck, Robbie Robertson or Billy Gibbons).
He bought his first telecaster at the aged of 13, and through the 1960s played countless gigs as a sideman for nameless rock bands before being discovered by the likes of John Lennon, Eric Clapton and even Merle Haggard. He went on to gold record sales and worldwide tours with Lonnie Mack, the Allman Brothers and many other blues/rock guitar icons. But he battled record labels for artistic control and shortly after his ACL performance actually quit recording altogether out of frustration. A brief comeback a few years later showed promise, but as so often happens, he lost the war with his personal demons.
From the award-winning PBS "Austin City Limits" TV series, this performance, recorded live on November 15, 1976, includes songs that were never aired on the original TV broadcast. This treasure celebrates a brilliant guitarist at the peak of his talents, and is a chance for a new generation to discover what they might've missed. It is the latest release in the acclaimed "Live From Austin, TX" series.

Martial arts superstar Jet Li reteams with French writer-director Luc Besson (KISS OF THE DRAGON) in this psychological action film shot in Glasgow, Scotland. Li stars as Danny, a human attack dog for a powerful mobster he calls Uncle Bart (Bob Hoskins, looking resplendent in white suit after white suit). When Bart and his men go out on their collection runs, they bring Danny, who has been trained since he was a child to fight to kill. When Bart takes Danny's collar off and commands, "Get 'im," Danny goes to work, an unstoppable machine, using the only weapon he knows: his body. But when a turf war ends up in bloody carnage, Danny escapes and is taken in by a kind family consisting of blind piano tuner Sam (Morgan Freeman) and his teenage stepdaughter, Victoria (Kerry Condon). They teach Danny how to be a real person, to be able to act civilly in society. They also allow Danny to explore his love of the piano, where a specific tune haunts him, bringing up repressed memories from his long-ago past. Just when Danny thinks he has escaped from his former life, he is pulled back in, but he is no longer the trained ...
