Longest Day Movie Review One day in history, what a day! Great cast, great stories. A real insight into the events of D-Day. A must see for history buffs. Submitted by sandybarnes1 (Oceanside, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful. This review is for a different format.
My Dad was there. He said it was as real as it could be made.
We saw this together in 1960.
He wasn't in the first wave but told me thats what the beach looked like.
With the TV Show Combat, you have as much realism as you can get on the screen.
TCM say: One of the Greatest Movies Ever made.

What about the Canadians who died at Normandy? As is so common in Hollywood's view of Canada, Canada exists only as the "Northcountry" or a place where our cities stand in for US cities in filming.
The Longest Day falls into the first category and this is very sad, since the movie is big, important and moving in many ways.
Canada lost more men per capita than any other Allied nation in that invasion. There were five infantry divisions: two American, two British (with some Canadian troops) and one Canadian. They took Juno Beach. They were young men too; they were patriotic and many had enlisted long before the U.S entered the war.
There were plenty of great Canadian actors who could have been cast in this film (how about Christopher Plummer?).
What a shame that the movie ignored a major part of The Longest Day. Submitted by virginia (Cincinnati, Ohio) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful. This review is for a different format.
One of the finest American war films ever. This is perhaps the premier American WWII film, replete with stunning cinematography, engaging script, and more stars than the universe itself! Of course it focuses almost exclusively on the American forces and offers a blatanly patriotic view - because it's an AMERICAN FILM! You don't see the French or Germans making war films about Americans, because their audiences wouldn't want to see it. That's the way it should be - an American could not have crafted as amazing a work as "Downfall", which chronicled the last few days of Hitler in the bunker. This is, again, an American WWII film, and one of the finest along with Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List. There can't be a higher recommendation than that! Longest Day review
$23.39 ANGER MANAGEMENT, directed by Peter Segal, looks into the life of Dave Buznik (Adam Sandler), an executive assistant at a pet clothing company. The mild-mannered but overly passive Dave is in love with his girlfriend, Linda (Marisa Tomei), yet his anxious personality keeps him from taking things further, both in their relationship and in his career. However, Dave's life takes a strange turn when he is wrongly accused of "air rage" on a flight and sentenced to mandatory anger management classes. Eccentric anger guru Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson) becomes Dave's therapist, but when Buddy abruptly moves in with Dave, the doctor-patient relationship takes an unusual turn.
An appropriate pairing of actors with oversized personalities, ANGER MANAGEMENT allows Nicholson to run amuck, while letting Sandler hone the mellower side of his cinematic presence. ...

Longest Day DVD
$26.59 One of the most exciting and heart-wrenching epics ever made, THE SAND PEBBLES is a masterpiece of storytelling, with exceptional performances by a stellar cast. The complex tale begins simply enough in 1926 China, where a group of American soldiers are patrolling the Yangtze River on a gunboat called the San Pablo. The crew members, who call themselves Sand Pebbles, includes Jake Holman (Steve McQueen), a dispassionate but capable navy machinist, and his only friend, Frenchy (Richard Attenborough), a sailor in love with an English-educated Chinese girl, Maily (Marayat Andriane), who has been sold into prostitution. Strong feelings of nationalism have been sweeping through China, however, and when Chiang Kai-shek moves against the feudal warlords, the United States decides to treat the upheaval as a civil war, and the San Pablo is ordered to confine its ...

$32.89 KNOCKED UP's Katherine Heigl stars in this romantic comedy about a selfless young woman who is trapped in the role of perennial bridesmaid. Set in New York City, the film opens with Jane (Heigl) racing by cab to appear in two friends' weddings in the same night. She is the maid of honor for both fetes, and she rushes back and forth in time to shimmy to both electric slides. She meets Malcolm (James Marsden), a cynical young man who, unbeknownst to her, writes for a newspaper's wedding column. Malcolm is intrigued by the sheer number of times Jane has played bridesmaid, and he secretly decides to write a story about her. To further complicate Jane's life, her younger sister Tess (Malin Akerman) has just come to town and ensnared Jane's longtime crush, George (Edward Burns). When George and Tess become engaged, Jane faces the humiliating prospect of playing bridesmaid in the wedding of her sister and the man she loves. Meanwhile, Malcolm continues hounding Jane, and Jane's life and closet soon explode in a taffeta-tangled mess that forces her to make some big changes.
Heigl is a pleasure to watch, as she has the kind of crowd-pleasing, no-nonsense presence that could ground any film, so 27 DRESSES greatly ...
| | Motley Crue - Carnival Of Sins Live Blu-ray (2005) Widescreen
Longest Day film
$23.39 Known as much for their offstage antics as for their music, Motley Crue's reunion for the Red, White & Crue tour was met with much speculation, with everyone wondering if the group that defined the rock & roll attitude of the '80s could still deliver. At this concert held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in April of 2005, the Crue prove themselves still more than capable, playing a mixture of old favorites and new songs to a crowd of equally mixed ages. Tommy Lee performs a characteristically wild drum solo, while the rest of the show is marked by exotic dancers, pyrotechnic displays, and costumes that the group is known for. The crowd goes wild for songs like "Dr. Feelgood" and "Girls, Girls, Girls," while ballads like "Home Sweet Home" provide a much-needed break to Mick Mars, who suffers from a degenerative spinal disease. Backstage footage from the tour serves to make this a comprehensive experience ...
